Saturday, April 29th
Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros, Common, Damian Marley, Atmosphere, Carl Cox, My Morning Jacket, Ladytron , Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Tosca, Cat Power, Animal Collective, HARD-fi, Derrick Carter, Devendra Banhart, She Wants Revenge, The Walkmen, The Juan Maclean, Audio Bullys, Imogen Heap, Lady Sovereign, Deerhoof, The Duke Spirit, Editors, stellastarr*, Lyrics Born, Matt Costa, The New Amsterdams, The Zutons, Platinum Piped Pipers, White Rose Movement, Chris Liberator, Colette, Joey Beltram, Hybrid, Wolfmother, The Like, Living Things, Nine Black Alps, The Section Quartet, Infadels, Youth Group, Shy FX & T Power, Infusion.
Sunday, April 30th
Tool, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party, Paul Oakenfold, Scissor Sisters, Matisyahu, James Blunt, TV on the Radio, Sleater-Kinney , Mogwai, Coheed and Cambria, Gnarls Barkley, Coldcut, Phoenix, Digable Planets, Amadou & Mariam, Little Louie Vega, Mylo (DJ Set), Seu Jorge, Wolf Parade, The Go! Team, Kaskade, Metric, Art Brut, Dungen, The Dears, Jamie Lidell, The Magic Numbers, Los Amigos Invisibles, Jazzanova, Michael Mayer, Mates of State, Gilles Peterson, Gabriel & Dresden, The Subways, Minus the Bear, Be Your Own Pet, Giant Drag, Kristina Sky, The Octopus Project.
Now, this isn't a bad lineup, but I can't say I'm not horribly disappointed. At least I hope Oakenfold closes out the Sahara Tent on Sunday so I feel no conflict with seeing Tool.
This, honestly, sapped a lot of my enthusiasm. I was counting on Underworld Sunday night, if nothing else. Still a lot of great bands, but I'm not so much an indie kid anymore. Some good DJs, but nothing at all on the dance front that blows my socks off.

It would actually be easier if there weren't so many cool people from the board coming out: this isn't worth it.....
Lots of drugs??? Might help. Oh well, let's see what everyone else thinks.

Re: Underworld at Coachella 2006?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As of of today's UWlive post, a Coachella appearance looks to be pure "fiction"...
A very early list had Fatboy Slim & Underworld at Coachella this year. With neither act performing, I don't think I'll be attending either.

like the musical nazi that i am, here is the indoctrinated version of people i wouldnt mind seeing :P
Saturday, April 29th
Depeche Mode
Franz Ferdinand
Sigur Ros (although saw these at glastonbury and thouyght a bit dull tbh - if its in a tent rathert than an open field probably better)
Ladytron
Tosca (nice! misssed k & d at one of their only live shows at the big chill because i split up with my ex girlfriend - thisll do just nicely)
Derrick Carter (aceness!! the dj's dj, proper jack tackle, mchebne will be jealous ;))
The Duke Spirit (oddly enough only just heard about these today from ym mate gareth - apparently records all his backming tracks to vinyl then plays them over a grampahone to play along to!!)
The Zutons
Joey Beltram
Infadels (if their as good as acids recommendation ;))
Sunday, April 30th
Tool
Bloc Party
Mogwai
Coldcut
Phoenix
Little Louie Vega
Mylo (DJ Set)
The Go! Team
Jamie Lidell (haha! niuce u guys have to check him, he rocks hard)
The Magic Numbers
Jazzanova
Michael Mayer (his fabric mix cd is fuckin amazing)
so theres plenty to get the juices going :D
just not the brainstormer i was expectin thats all ;)

Acts I didn't know at least had huge reputations: M83, MIA, Arcade Fire, etc. Kasabian, K-oS, Razorlight were second or third tier highlights.
Despite being underwhelmed by New Order and NIN, they at least got me hyped up with expectation.
And the Chems and the Prodigy tore down the house in the Sahara Tent to close each night. There at least needs to be a headline caliber dance act, IMO.
We'll see what happens, but right now I'm struggling to get excited.

We'll need to find a consensus, figure out what we wanna do... cuz, really, I go where whirly wants to go, and whirly is going to want to go wherever the largest concentration of Forumites gathers.

I guarantee that whirly and I could show you all a better time than any depeche mode concert.... we'll fill our living room with airmattresses, it'll be a giant chems campout...
I know we're gonna spend more time rappin with y'all than we will actually listening to any of those sorry excuses for musicians.

I am still up for a meetup and the welcome mat to my home is always out for anyone Chems brother and sister who wanders on my doorstep. Hell, maybe still head out to the desert and have fun, hit up some casinos. All are welcome if you don't want to do Coachella but would like a nice California vacation, a free place to crash, lovely beach scenery, Disneyland... I'm down with the Mouse just not down with the line-up at Coachella I'm afraid.
Round table conference via IM sometime later today/tonight?
