Interview with Peter Hook, when asked what track he's ever heard that he wishes he'd made:
"The Chemical Brothers: Out of Control. Barney did the vocals on this one and I couldn't believe it when he played it to me. It's fucking fantastic. Those lands really know what they're up to. It even sounds like New Order. When I heard it I was a bit pissed off to tell you the truth, because it's so good."
Amazing that Tom & Ed so impressed their idols like that. It would be like if Mario Lemieux told me he wishes he played hockey like I do (trust me, he doesn't). 8O

I would like to hear the demo of this. Bernard Sumner said on the DVD that he played a whole guitar track around it to get in touch with the song, and only a small part ended up in the finished version, because the first thing Tom and Ed did was removing the guitar!

Yeah, apparently Barney kept insisting on playing the guitar line to keep him in line for his vocals and Tom & Ed said "sure, sure, whatever..." The instant he leaves the studio the guitar gets cut.
I would love to hear that demo, though. I'd nearly forgotten about that anecdote.

Wow, that's sooooooo cool!! 8)
Imagine that, having your musical idols and one of your largest influences tell you that. I'd fall over dead! Flattery of the century.
I read somewhere that it took Bernard something like 6 hours to hook up his guitar and get the sound just right. And then to find out the guitar was cut... oh lord. X-D X-D After all that!
I also read that when Tom and Ed first met Bernard Sumner to discuss plans of a collaboration, they brought a whole bunch of New Order stuff for him to sign. I thought that was really cute.
