I was just sitting here doing nothing, when I decided to pull out my DYOH CD (that has been collecting dust) and poped it in my CD player. I have not listened to this CD at all since I purchased CWU in the summer. While I was listening, I was hearing things that I really never payed to much attention to, but now I am. Here are my thoughts on DYOH. Tell me what the hell you all think about it.

Block Rockin' Beats: From what my friends have told me (non-electroica listeners) that this is the CB's most famous song. I like it, I think it has a great appeal to people that dont regularaly listen to elcetronica (techno). 8.3/10

Dig your Own Hole: I think this is one of the more powerful tracks on this CD. One of the only problems would have to be the break in the middle, kinda long, boring, and ear hurting on high vol. level. But the wait is worth the big bang to come. 7.3/10

Elektrobank: Holy shit. First time I heard this song (I was 7 yrs. old I think) it was on the Y2K soundtrack. I was blown away at the breaks and beats this song throws at you. I can listen to this song over and over again. It is one of the best songs of this time, only, I cant make out completely what the hell the guy is yelling in the song. 9.5/10

Piku: Nice beats. Good bass. Badly put together I think. It needs more of a beggining and ending. Lovin' the synths near the end though. :P

6.9/10

Setting Sun: Whats the big deal about this song? I hate the backwards guitar jam throughout the whole thing. Good lyrics, bad overall likeness. It needs to have a less ennyoing touch to it. 3.6/10

It doesn't Matter: Wow, this is the bass I want at my funeral, LOL. I really like the beats, basses, synths flanging around the headphones. The beat doesn't really change to much, but this is one of the only songs that doesn't get boring either. Thats why this song is great. 8.9/10

Dont stop the Rock: This track has really no special place on the CD. Its a alright song, great drums, lowsie beggining, lowsie end. 6.1/10

Get up on it Like This: Banging great tunes. Nice scraching, and ofcourse, 'Get up on it. Get up on it like this'. Thats always assuring to hear. 7.8/10

Lost in the K-Hole: I will always love to hear from artists the fact that your ideas are ideas. Ha! Kinda cheezy, but hey. You dont hear feminem telling you that (for the exception of his movie to make him sound like he cares). I love how the song is put together, the drums, basses, all of it is awesome. Too short. 8.4/10

Where do I begin?: Really like this song. Beth has a great voice, and the synths that go along with the voice is superb. Its not to often you hear a techno song with these kind of melodies, and then comes the big break. Wow, what a good song to wake up to. 7.7/10

The Private Psychedelic Reel: I hope when you read this you will agree with me. This is the best Chems song ever made. First and formost, the best part about this song, is that it doesn't end without the biggest bang you will ever hear. The east indian strings are excellent with the drums, bass, etc. Each build up wants me to have more of it, and wants me to hear those shooting synths going to left to right, right to left. But only one drawback, if you dont feel the need to go deaf, dont listen to this song to loud (but thats what makes it even better). I love this song, and I think everybody else on this forum will agree with me. Thats all i got to say about one of the best CDs in the world. 10/10

Not the best Chems album, but definitely a lot of fun. Not really exactly what I would classify as a electronica album, its an amazing rock album (minus DSTR). Heres my break-down:

Block Rockin' Beats.

I loved this song at first, but not quite the kind of song that grows on you... Now I rarely listen to it except for the live version. But its a great track nonetheless.

7/10

Dig Your Own Hole.

This is the shit. This song is so freakin' cool. I love the fizz funkin wah wah bass. And the opening sound. I really love this song and listen to it a lot. The drums are the best, and the ending is top notch.

8.7/10

Elektrobank.

Yea, this song is really strong. Hard. Its a rock song and an electronica song. Alpha-Beta Psychedelic Funkin'. The ending is very nice

8/10

Piku.

The coolest song on the album. God, I love that snare. The opening is so cool - the way it just drops in. Really nice sounds, and the ending (as usual for DYOH) is stellar.

9.5/10

Setting Sun.

Pretty good. Nice and trippy. The vocals aren't as good as the music, but they're nicely done. Wicked TNK beat.

7/10

It Doesn't Matter.

it it it it it ititit ddddddddddddooooooooeeeeeesssssssssnnnnn'tttt matttttttterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr iiiiittttttttttttttttttttttt VRRRM VRRM VRRM VRRM, VRRM VRRM VRRM VRRM, VRRM VRRM VRRM VRRM

Ohhh yeah. This one is real nice. Fucking amazing bassline.

9/10

Don't Stop The Rock.

its cool. I like the way it builds up to the screeching 303, but it doesn't push it enough as much as it does in the EBW version :(

7.7/10

Get Up On It Like This.

Not too good anymore. I think its lost a lot of appeal now that I know the Loops of Fury version.

6/10

Lost in the K-Hole.

Trippy! I don't remember how this one goes I'm so lost in it!

9.5/10

Where Do I Begin?.

A beautiful song. I love it. Excellent buildup and the wailing synths at the end are cool.

10/10

The Private Psychedelic.

Listen. At night. Full volume. Fall over.

10/10

Thats be it.

Oh, man. 8O DYOH is the best album the Chems made! Ok, ok, ok...here's what I think:

Block Rockin' Beats

Fuckin good song, more mainstream, but still fuckin good...especially live.

Dig Your Own Hole

Good song..a lil boring.

Elektrobank

Holy shit! This song is one of their best songs EVER. The beginning is so cool.

Piku

This song gets better as it goes on. The one part where it goes bum bum bum bum real fast and deep all of the sudden...it's the shit.

Setting Sun

This is possibly THE BEST SONG EVER MADE EVER! The lyrics, the deeeevvvviillllllll in me LoL, the screeching sirens, oh man...I get all rosy just thinkin about it ;-)

It Doesn't Matter

When I first heard the base on this song, my jaw fell open and I said,"Omg!" LoL Incredible.

Don't Stop The Rock

It's a semi-good songs...they've done much better.

Get Up On It Like This

Trippy, slightly horny I must say, and great ending.

Lost in the K-Hole

Trippy as hell.

Where Do I Begin?

This is a very pretty song, and makes me smile when I think of the mornings after past wild nights of my own ;-)

The Private Psychedelic

At first I did not like this song, but it definitely grew on me. It's definitely psychedelic, and great for when you're fallin asleep.

BEST CHEMIES ALBUM!!!! DYOH!! WOO!!! LoL[/i]

Hope my PC doesn't disconnect this time....... :?

Block rockin' beats

This is a f***in mad song, I used to think it was too long but when I heard the radio edit I changed my mind. The noises at the start are cool 8) > Oh yeah, like the micronauts remix as well. (9/10)

Dig your own hole

Like the beats to this song, the "funkin' wah bass" and the riot bit (sounds like the end of an England vs Germany football match :D ).(8/10)

Elektrobank

Has a nice flow to it and the bit at the end with the cartoony explosions kicks ass. Who is this doin' this alpha beta psychedelic funkin'? (8.5/10)

Piku

I think I like endings too much! The end to this track where they basically mess about with the bass is cool 8) . (8/10)

Setting sun

More noise than tune but who cares? Cool track. (8/10)

It doesnt matter

Cool piece of techno. My second favourite chems track of all time. Love the 'channel changing' noises flashing round my head. You have to listen to this song with earphones etc to fully appreciate it. Reminds me of factories and stuff. (10/10)

Don't stop the rock

Scary. (7.5/10)

Get up on it like this

Always wanted to know why they put this on here, suppose its cos it fits in with the rest of the album....like the full version better. (7.5/10)

Where do I begin?

Love the buildup and where Tom and Ed drop in the beats! (8.5/10)

The Private Psychedelic reel

Don't like this as much as everyone else but this track is like some sonic intergalactic journey to somewhere. The last 3 minutes are best. (8/10)

The Lemon Jelly paper covers are best. The designs on them are cool. 8)
