For a long 2hr and 40 minute movie, Watchman got my attention with a story that didn't make me sleepy. A nice share of blood and sex with action that's not overpowering, but fairly enough to blend with the films look and style. Read the book if you want to get a better grip of this flick. It wasn't one of those 'mindblowing' films but Zack Snyder makes it viewable for the comic fans.

It's not really a book as such, it's a graphic novel. Not fun to read imo

Iggy - do you understand Hindi? Watch a film called Dev D - you should like it. It's by this maverick Indian director called Anurag Kashyap - he's been making some pretty decent films - fine film there.

I've been watching tonnes of films lately. There's this new wave happening in Indian cinema this last one year and some of the output is fantastic. Including Anurag Kashyap's new one Gulaal.

I waited for Slumdog for 2 months till I saw it in early Jan and it was tad disappointing for me since I'd been waiting too long for it. Decent flick, but Danny Boyle's lost it.

The soundtrack is fantastic. I loved it in the film, but forgot about it, till all the Oscar hype happened and a lot of bashing happened around me with the cool cats calling it bullshit compared to Rehman's older work and stuff, so I ended up picking the cd just to check it out. It's one of my best buys lately - fantastic soundtrack with some brilliant songs - do check out. It's very cheap also cost me just 150 bucks, which is $3 - amazing stuff.

I've never been a Rehman fan except long back in junior school with his first few soundtracks, then lost interest as he got repetitive. I remember Whirly mentioning him here an year back or so and how she'd liked something she'd heard, and pretty freak everyone in the world knows him an year down the line, and everyone in india knows danny boyle, someone i worshipped 10 yrs back and gave up on a few years back. globalisation.

I'll correct you Pumisher, Bad start because it stars Nicholas Cage, good end because there was no more Nicholas Cage.

I haven't seen the film, and I do not want to even though it's directed by the guy who directed Dark City.

Just back from watching CRANK 2. What a film! it somehow managed to be more genius than the first one. It has all the hallmarks of a British film, but it's American. I love the camera work these guys do, it's clever and great to watch.

Bolt

I can't say it was a -complete- waste of my time, but it was time requested by my son.

One to miss! (if you don't have a 6 year-old)

We saw Monsters Vs. Aliens on the Imax in 3-D. It's a kids' flick but was actually pretty good and we enjoyed it. My mother in law was ducking during the explosions.

I'm not laughing at you iggy, and your typically male fascination with breasts and lady parts. (And before your boys get down on me for saying this, a fair number or us ladies like that you boys like breasts and lady parts, we just aren't likely to admit it).

I'm laughing because you have the balls to say what every man who's seen Choke is thinking. Whether they will admit to it or not.

Nice one. You made me lol!

Just back from Star Trek. JJ Abrams, as you would say, is a "douché". You don't need to make a good story when you have time travel to play with...*sigh* nah it was alright I guess for the subject matter but I wouldn't recommened it to anyone.

Salvation!

Good story! Some decent action in there but the movie wasn't overdone with special effects nor it was cheesey. It's a fair grade movie for McG but not the best action movie so far this year.

Bales' temper on the set may have cost the movie some pesos cause the flick came in 2nd over the weekend.

Terminator: Salvation wasn't bad, but it wasn't good.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but the movie didn't have a lot going for it, it seemed like. I don't know how well Christian Bale worked as John Connor, but that's probably because the character wasn't set up properly. They needed to have more lead-in to how he functioned--i.e. you were immediately supposed to believe that he was the leader of humankind, but there was nothing he was shown to have done to deserve that role and to have people following him. It didn't make sense, and there was a lot more that needed to have been done to set it up.

Angels and Demons wasn't that bad Pumisher, it wasn't as good as Da Vinci Code though.

Terminator Salvation was a good tribute.

Watched quite a few on planes over the last couple of weeks - nothing outstanding, but mainly all worth watching:

- The International - pretty good, typical action film

- Taken - another action film, similar style to the Bourne movies

- The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls - apparently a huge NZ export - the world's only musical-comedy lesbian twins. A good doc-film, they've been involved in a lot of political activities over the years.

- Waverider - really good, all about Maori traditions

- Nobel Son - mentioned elsewhere, not bad, good soundtrack avec Chems

- The Wackness - Ben Kingsley as a dopehead psychiatrist, again not too bad. Good hiphop soundtrack from the early 90s.

The Hangover was nearly worth the cost of the price of the ticket I paid. I laughed heartily during a few moments, but overall I give it two and a half stars and a "meh."

-Bad- movie with comedic goodness.
