Isn't it incredible??? Look at that sea of synths! Man, what would I do just to play at least one of them! A moog, just playing a moog someday!!!

Here it is, first problem with my Juno 106 :( I knew it would happen sooner or later.
It's pretty strange : the 5th oscillator sounds without the resonance of the VCF. It could be worse, but still it sucks...
Anyway, I'll just use the Poly2 mode, that uses only the 1st osc when you play one note, the 2 firsts when you play 2, etc. Even if I had to play 5 notes altogether, it wouldn't be that shocking that one of the notes has no reso...

One year I went to the NAMM trade show which is held annually in Anaheim, CA. It's so easy to spend hours and hours walking around (and beer is served!!) because every toy imaginable is there - from antique synths to instruments not even released to custom goods to software/hardware demos to pipe organs to didgeridoos. It's awesome, you guys would pee your pants!
The year I went there was a moog on display. Display being the key word. It was one of those Spinal Tap "don't even point at it" moment. I just wanted to put my pinky out and just touch it. Just a wee bit. But no such luck. It may as well have been under glass. It was a nice sight though, my only claim to fame as far as moogs go.

Classic Moogs may be rare but not THAT rare guys. They are still bought and sold every day, just less of them. As far as the newer range, I was going to grab a Lil Phatty for our live rig but it wont fit in the custom case, which is how im justifying waiting another couple of months to grab a custom Voyager :)
As for being impressed... show me a picture of yourself with a Polivoks!

@csar - holy crap, I know what you mean! That reminds me of this store in my area that basically looks like that. Everything is second hand and the prices are way beyond normal, but its still fun to go in and hack around right? ;)

Yay prochem, No one can resist the erotic of a synth, haha. I think Whirly hit the nail, I'd defo pee my pants. If it would be helpful is another story... The problem i'd have there would be to decide which one to play first and which one to play next. Unfortunatley we don't have those stores here - i would be spending days in there with coffee and muffins.
But there's a small one in our city where the owner once said he'll get his hands on a waldorf fuzzer and wants to expose it there. In the next couple of days I should go out checking if it has arrived yet.

Hmmm. Maybe we're just lucky in Australia, theres a lot of classic synths around and everyone seems to know someone with what you want, be it a play or hire or to try to buy it off them. In my home town is a great music store with a bunch of great vintage stuff, rather known for it.
ПОЛИВОΚС... we're negotiating a booking in Russia on the tail end of our Euro tour next year and if it goes through, which im not too sure about, I will be on the hunt for ПОЛИВОΚС. Sure its a bit crazy and will cost a lot to bring back, but it will be a unique bit of gear to keep running.

srsly, what band do not use a MicroKorg today ? :s
Posted 05 November 2007 - 2:35 AM
or the fact that there are 5 controls on it and some dip-shit though it'd be a good idea to categorize them by music genre... I've had both the microkorg and the ms2000, and i cannot figure out why anyone would buy a microkorg when the ms2000 is the same price and yields more space for creativity with out a software editor or lots of time. especially the virtual patching, love that thing.

So do I. I can't figure how to be creative with 5 pots when I see the 30-more pots of the Ms2K aren't enough to control everything without some menu navigation.
I think it's gonna be the same deal between Radias and R3. I might want a Radias in the next few years... But my next synth will most likely be a Nord Micro Modular

Logic 8 = sexy time, very true.
It has so many little things that improve _everything_

exactly, the microkorg is all about the looks and ms2000 about the p-o-t-e-n-t-i-a-l. really tells you something about the player/group. although the microkorgs keys actually do make it good for jamming out in a good speed on monopohonic, but if you do chords or midi, then there's no need.
