I know it's a bit off topic, but if any of you could click on this link and vote for my Lloyd Dobler costume as the #1 Movie fan, I'd really appreciate it. I need to be as viral as possible so if you can leave comments and share the link with your friends, it would be pretty damn awesome. Thanks again. Sorry for the hijack.

Ps, I saw Argo. Don't really think it deserves movie of the year and the academy was right by not nominating Afleck. He did a good job, but it wasn't anything special. Enjoyed the movie though.

Really enjoyed Flight. Great story, acting was really good too and I usually don't like Denzel Washington.

One movie that came out a while ago that I recently saw was Chronicle. It's kinda a teen movie, but it was done in a very clever way and had a very cool storyline. How they made the camera a part of the storyline and how they used the camera was quite inventive and actually I thought was more deserving of best direction than Argo actually. Recommend it.

I just bought Samsara and am still recovering from the emotional roller coaster that film took me on. So brilliant!!!!! Do everything you can to see that film. Also, Searching for Sugarman was one of the best documentaries I have seen in years. Can't wait for Rodriguez's set at Coachella!!!

I just watched Samsara a couple of nights ago, thanks to the recommendation and praise here. The cinematography was stunning. One minute you are gliding through caverns and bedrock and the next moment you are immersed in the wreckage of what used to be someone's living room after a natural disaster. What struck me as odd at first is no scene ever lingered for more than a few short moments before going to the next frame that had nothing to do with the scene before. Some scenes hung on long enough to look into the souls of the human subjects, and others were so beautiful there was actually a pang of loss when it cut to the next segment. And when it was a particularly difficult scene to bear, the change of scenery with the following segment comes as a mercy. It seems like it would be jumbled yet somehow, the flow of this film works. The music was lovely, too.

Watched Anders Thomas Jensens "De grønne slagtere" (the great butchers) the other night. Why exeactly didn't i watch it 10 years before? If you like his other movies (flickering lights & adam's apples) you have to take look at this movie.

That is the thing about movies like Samsara, each shot that they show has a different meaning to everyone who watches it and the next shot that is shown gives the viewer the power of connecting the two and making their own narrative. Baraka is the same way. Beautifully shot and edited and just leaves your soul full of emotion. Glad you liked it. More people need to know that there are films out there like that.

Another cool film that I recently saw is called Timescapes.

Danny Boyle's new one Trance, with original score by Underworld's Rick Smith (incidentally Karl Hyde is about to release a solo album).
The film leaves you with a slightly hollow feeling at the end but if you just go along for the ride then it's worth a look.

Watched Olympus has fa(iled)llen last night. Wow, this was a dumb and cheesy, pathetically over-patriotic CGI boom-boom piece of action flick I've seen in a long while. It's downright "on par" with Red Dawn.
Do these producers never get tired of these American patriotism plots, over-dramatically depicting terror on US grounds? Or did I miss out on their new recruiting campaign for young patriots to sensitize them for a new old enemy?
Well, that movie was laughable - just as Red Dawn was.

I enjoyed OHF on a basic level. I knew what to expect (so not much) but now and again films like this settle my urges. The new Jason Stathum film is good, it's so good it's got two titles "Redemption/Hummingbird".

I watched a very good Norwegian film yesterday called Headhunters (2011). Subbed not dubbed. Followed by the classic animé Grave of the Fireflies. Subbed not dubbed.

I took my son and his friend to the movies the other day, would normally just leave them and pick them up but couldn't be bothered driving back and forth two times so I stayed.

Surprisingly to me I really enjoyed Man of Steel, kept me captivated the whole way through.
Further Remixed There's nothing else...

I went to see Pacific Rim, and it was awesome. Appart from a couple plot holes and predictable twists, the design of the movie is really great, and the battles are epic

I was supposed to see Pacific Rim tonight, been looking forward to this for ages. That was until I recently found out it stars my least favourite actor

It's a good film, but not 'Del Toro' good, meaning it does fell like a normal blockbuster movie, but not breakthrough. Great on Imax, but like ben said, plot holes, so-so acting (except the little girl, who pretty much nailed it!), and this cheesy stuff ...

Spoiler

But the robo action was top notch!

If you guys can, see 'This is the End'! Wins my pick for best film so far this year!
