Sorry guys and girls to let you all down.
But I had a laugh while reading all your messages.
@ whirly : comparing "the Pogues" with alcohol?????
I know what your talking about.
Some years ago I did see Shane MacGowan live at festival.
The band was playing all the right tunes.
But the only thing that Shane MacGowan could do was mumbling:
(and I quote) LLALALLA OELLOOOO SHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOSSSSSSSS
After a while the band stopped playing and walked of stage.
And Shane just kept going:
LLALALLA OELLOOOO SHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOSSSSSSSS
(and stuff like that)
When he had been doing this for 10minutes, security got Shane of stage.
So the music sucked but the show was great.
When I think about it now I still start laughing.
@everybody else: sorry for this intermezzo

I loved the Pogues, have lots of stories to go along with their music. Shane McGowan is a drunk mutherfucker and unfortunately it has affected his ability to perform and I find more idiotic than sad. But apparently, it hasn't affected his sex drive. I worked with a girl (more like, a Shane groupie) who spent 4 days shacked up with him at a hotel in Los Angeles. And to think, she complained about kissing him because he has hardly any teeth. *shudder* makes me ill just thinking about it. He has the worst teeth in rock n'roll, probably the worst in enture western hemisphere. The interesting thing was, this girl was really really cute, had a fiance who really dug her, but she had her heart set on being a starfucker and aspired to banging Shane McGowan. Some girls - tsk tsk.
Another story- New Year's 2000, we were at a party and the Pogues were playing. The ball dropped and we were listening to Body of an American and one of my good friends realizes that the world didn't end, wasn't going to end, and everything was going to be OK even though it was 2000. So he goes from 0 - 60 in about 10 minutes put away an large bottle of Bushmills - on top of the several Guiness he'd consumed over the course of the evening on an empty stomach. Our friend gets very animated and starts singing along, doing his best Shane impersonation. Not bad for someone who's normally subdued. Flash foward 3 minutes. and the next thing we know, we start looking around and find our friend passed out in a pool of his own sick out in the back yard, the Pogues still blaring at top decibles. And there he stayed until the sun came up - to this day, he still gets a bit nauseated just listening to the Pogues!
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle
