well i just got my first orbital album there the other day. it's called In Sides. I also went n downloaded the 2 different bonus discs that came with it at some point. the album is fantastic. I love "The Girl With The Sun In Her Head" and "The Box"(also the 28 min version on one of the bonus discs) and the live version of "Halcyon"(the song used in the films Hackers and Mortal Kombat), never realised how good orbital really are.
Any other orbital fans recomend another of their albums for me to get next?

Yeah, Cosmic Game is very chilled, but I dig the atmosphere it brings. Not an all-the-time record but still quite good.
Some more recommendations that are relatively "new":
Beck - Guero (my favorite of his since Odelay, though a bit more mellow)
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm (very raw and powerful, a tight band with a bright future)

i'll second the Bloc Party - Silent Alram
Sasha - Fundacion (out 6/13) I have already heard the sampler and it is pretty damn good.
"Fundacion : NYC is a snapshot of my recent residencies in New York and LA. It captures the spirit and the sound of the Fundacion night." - Sasha
Sasha's Fundacion residencies at New York's Crobar and Los Angeles' Avalon have been part of an overall renaissance in club land. He's been able to experiment with a revolutionary new DJ set-up that began with his 'Involver' album, which was released through Global Underground a year ago.
"'Involver' was my experiment with Ableton, my remix project. It really pushed the capabilities of Ableton in the studio. 'Fundacion : NYC' captures what I can now do with Ableton in a live capacity, this is my mix album." - Sasha
Created over a period of months, 'Involver' utilized the Ableton computer mixing system. It inspired Sasha to ditch the traditional Technics decks and CD players and take Ableton on the road. To do this, he and a technician friend worked for months creating a bespoke, state-of-the-art mixing console that Sasha has nicknamed 'The Maven'. This one-of-a-kind custom designed controller, along with Ableton Live software and an Apple G5, enables Sasha to sample, loop, layer and re-edit live in the booth and has transformed his DJing.
"It's like a live performance every night. It's the ultimate DJ experience." - Sasha
Completed in just a few days, 'Fundacion : NYC' is the sound of Sasha's Ableton/Maven set-up in live action and enables Sasha to mix some of the coolest electro-house sounds around with forgotten classics he has revived and reworked. Sometimes as many as five tracks come together at once to create completely new interpretations ? though Sasha's innate ability to clarify and streamline sound means things never get over-crowded. Instead 'Fundacion' captures a great DJ having the time of his life.
"It's completely re-energised me again. I'm jumping up and down in the DJ booth, and people can feel that on the dance-floor, they know." - Sasha
A brilliant example of just what Sasha has been able to do using the Maven can be heard on 'Tides'. This is one of the most complete transformations of any track on 'Fundacion : NYC'. Originally a downtempo, acoustic soul number by oddball German trio Beanfield, from their 2004 album 'Seek' - it was then given a sparse remix by Detroit techno maestro Carl Craig. Sasha in turn has rebuilt Carl Craig's rework into something epically melodic, yet still cool as ice.
"It's a fantastic record, but the original is just a kickdrum and a bassline, very stripped down, very minimal. For my kind of sets it didn't have the energy." - Sasha
After a six-month residency in the States, Sasha will be taking his Fundacion night to Ibiza this summer ? the third location to host the Fundacion experience. The newly re-furbished Space is to be Sasha?s home for five Thursdays this summer starting on 28 July until 25 August.

ooo, i like this thread, good idea Girlelectric ;-)
I'd say on the house music side of things i'd say that sebastian ingrosso and steve angello are pretty much ruling the roost, theyve been knocking out remixes and tunes fast and furiously, a bit like jacques lu cont was just recently.
some of my favourite records are
roman flugel - gehts noch? (steve angello who's who? remix)
Moby - Raining again (steve angello remix)
Mohito ft. Howard Jones - slip away (steve angello mix)
steve angello - acid
Sebastian ingrosso and john dahlback - lick my deck/we got the muzik
Deep dish - say hello (sebastian ingrosso and steve angello mix)
For sale - Buy now
On a drum and bass tip, i'd have to say ive been digging alot of Nu:Tone and logistics for a while. the guy that is Logistics is the younger brother of the guy behind Nu:Tone. If that makes sense 8O This is some really, soulful deep jazzy drum and bass, that'll get u dancin like a mad man. check out anything by logistics and also Nu:Tones album Brave Nu World or atleast download '3 bags full' for wicked sampling use of the tune on the Pearl and dean advert at the cinema.
I'll second...
tom vek fave track is 'nothing but green lights,' it reminds me of the killers for some reason
Planet funk - the illogogical consequence

M83 - Before the Dawn Heals Us (think My Bloody Valentine, with synths - and better, if you ask me)
Funk D'Void - Volume Freak (emotive techno)
Primal Scream - Dirty Hits (their greatest hits; check the 2-disc version with all the remixes)
Chemical Brothers - Push the Button :D
