Evening all

You might all be aware, but Underworld have announced a 20th anniversary remaster of Dubno in various versions - the 5 cd super-deluxe version looks impressive (and already preordered!)

http://www.underworl...e-issue-show-2/

There's a one off gig in London on 11th October where they'll play Dubno in its entirety. As always - a dilemma. Saturday night in London, and first Saturday of the school mid term break - going to need a LOT of persuasion with the family for this one, or just hold out some remote hope of a small tour...

Now, what chance of a similar Chems 20 year EPD box set next year and special gigs?

Dude. You absolutely should go pending disaster. I need to live vicariously through you for this one. Try making time for your family some other way. :)

I'm thinking I should also hit up this pre-order. I never actually bought Dubnobasswithmyheadman... Sounds like the perfect opportunity to finally get a copy.

I am actually trying to think of how I could feasibly be in London for that show. Likelihood slim but I am going to put effort into it. Graysquire, you've got to go, this can't be something you'd regret seeing.

I am almost definitely going to this. DNBWMHM is an all time favourite of mine.

You're making this harder now... Either way, I can sense this being an expensive weekend...

Link says they plan to re-release the rest of their albums in the same manner... if they do another show for Second Toughest, oh man. I have to be there for that. Dubno's classic, but Second Toughest gets me.

Would eb cool if they did what Suede did a few years back, a week residency with a different album each night. I'd def be there for the first 3 nights.

would be cool to meet up for the DNBWMHM show if anyone was into it? Pretty sure none of my mates would be that interested (philistines).

Nope, seemed to be gone in seconds...

and from looking at comments on borndirty forum and fb, appears the same happened to many others. Fingers crossed now for extra dates due to the demand, or ideally a small tour

Well, what a clusterfuck. I'm guessing that demand for this gig was greater than the band themselves foresaw. I remember going to the album launch gig for 'Barking' at the Kentish Town Forum. A couple of months later they were playing Brixton Academy, but at the time it wasn't that hard to get tickets to that Forum gig (capacity: around 2400 which is similar to Royal Festival Hall).

Reminds me of Primal Scream. When they announced they were doing the Scremadelica anniversary gigs, suddenly they were playing two nights at London's Olympia (Y'know where the Chems played once). A couple of years later touring the More Light album (December 2013) they just about sold out one night at the smaller Brixton academy...
So there seem to be hoards of 'fans' who think that Dubno was UW's best album (admittedly so do I) and they all came out of the woodwork. Bastards.

So on Wed: Members of the Southbank Centre got first dibs on the Southbank website (I don't imagine that their members would generally be into Underworld, but maybe some people signed up just for this).
On Thurs, those of us who pre-ordered a remastered album we won't see for months logged on to the See Tickets link we had been sent, only to find it was clogged-the-fuck-up. This is the LINK; have a good read of all the comments at the bottom. A LOT of people who pre-ordered the album in order to get tickets were let down and pissed off.
On Fri, back to the Southbank Centre (Royal Festival Hall) website for the general sale. Get stuck in a queueing system (whilst at work), then as your number suddenly jumps to 1st in the queue, get told there are no tickets left. Bollox! But hey, if you want to pay £850 you can get a ticket in Row H on Stubhub. Yes, that's the price per ticket not for the pair.

Hopefully the band will realise there's enough demand to put on a second gig, perhaps at Brixton for all the people who were left disappointed. Even if it isn't the band's fault, this has left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths.

That is a bunch of shit, man. Sorry to hear that it was such a bad experience.

Now all I can do is vicariously share your disappointment from over here in California, instead of your enthusiasm for being able to go to the show. ;)

Hopefully another show will come around. And I'm hoping for some kind of world tour to stem from the Underworld camp sooner rather than later.

Not ranty at all - you said exactly how I felt! Brief interview with Karl on BBC 6 Music this afternoon, where he talked about the remaster, how Rick has been working on it for most of the last year, still wanting to do new stuff, and how they will now have Dubno to take out on the road. I'll keep hoping for a few extra dates - the demand is there!

BTW, off-topic comment. Has anyone ever looked at Eddy's Twitter profile picture in full size on a computer screen? The guy in the check shirt looks like he's out of scale from the rest of the picture. Or is he a dwarf?
