yeh he was in hitler youth! then he left the german army in the middle of ww2 then when the allies turned up they arrested him and held him prisoner anyway!! haha unlucky!

nothing against germans at all, ive got 2 german half sisters. im just not looking forward to one of the most influential men on the planet taking a right wing hard line !!

ie - no condoms in africa, further secrecy within the catholic church (he is an open advocate of less transparency) and a general return to middle age ethics, morals and standards :(

i dont reckon he'd be very keen on your dolphin chemical adventures either jeanie, thatll be 12 hail marys haha[/quote]

The disencouragement of using condoms in Africa is what really upsets me. It's nothing short of genocide in the name of appeasing a God who, if he exists, probably doesn't care one way or the other. Over half of African deaths are due to HIV/AIDS related illnesses, I seem to recall reading.

Yeah, abstinence is even better than condoms, but try telling that to cultures that place great stake in a man having many wives and producing a great number of offspring. Sure, monogamy is great if you can't practice abstinence, but tell that to the wife who knows her husband has many other girls he sleeps with. Doesn't matter how monogamous she is.

Not to mention that sex is one of the only pleasurable things to do in life, never mind in countries with no infrastructure and that are wracked with civil war. Let them fuck safely, FFS.

You say he's the most powerful man in the world but that's just because people choose to follow him.

If no one follows a politician or authoritarian figure he has no power.

Agreed, but when over a billion people regard him as God's authoritative representative on Earth, it's tough to deny him that following.

I beleive it was Stalin who asked, 'How many battalions does the Pope command?'

I believe what Pope JP2 did in poland revealed the complete irrelevence of that statement.

I just don't know how the fuck a Hitler Youth got elected the head of the Catholic Church, a man who's supposed to be 'Infallible'....

it's all rather creepy.
