maybe it's going to be one of these Digital Releases again ? I hope not.

My guess about the tracklist of the best of :

Stts

Life is Sweet

Leave Home

Brb

Setting Sun

TPPR

HbHg

Music Response

TSU

Star Guitar

The Test

Galvanize

Believe

Do it Again

Not a great update to Singles imo... They should make it a Live Best of ! or put a shitload of bonus tracks, not just the EBWs. Unheard mixes like the Coconut dub thing, the demo version of HBHG...

I hope they have a song called Brotherhood on it.

it says "...with a limited bonus Compact Disc..." so it sounds like a physical release instead of a dumb mp3 only release.

I just realize that this is something completely different from the singles. Best Of is a matter of opinion, so perhaps we'll see a compilation of tracks that were never released as singles, but enjoyed. So something well loved but never singled like Saturate could be on there (even though it wont because that will be on the bonus disc). Amazing it took me that long to take that into consideration...

Well, a part of me hopes it's different from the Singles. So many labels/bands tend to cash in on recycling singles and repackaging them as Best Of's (especially around the holidays) and I understand the money making aspect but I admit it's sort of annoying in a cash-grab sort of way. And you know... maybe having this new release titled Best Of will finally put to rest the whole confusion so many had when referring to the Singles as a Best Of...

What's really strange is that it has been nearly 5 years since the Singles has been released. Such fun times voting for what songs we'd like to have on the bonus disc. :) And seeing Delik appear along with the Otter Rock vault track thrown in as a surprise because we'd never knew it even existed til that moment. 2003... Where'd the time go??? Funny cause the Chems are at a half way point once again - that is, if we're going to chronicle the Chems and assess thier offerings in 10 year chunks.

A Live Best Of would be sweet but live albums historically do not do as well sales wise-so as far as a physical format is concerned - it is a costly venture that probably wouldn't be very lucrative. It would make more sense to release live songs or a live album in mp3 format a la Live '05.

The thing that has me excited is the limited edition bonus disc!! If this release will truly be released in physical format we should be grateful that the label is willing and confident enough in the band to invest in a physical release.

Anyway - super excited no matter what the Chems decide to release and share!!

Did anyone notice this in the "Live" shoutbox for Olympia:

i'm sorry people this is really their last gig, in a few months we will announce the official statement. And after it there will be a boxed set released with rare and unreleased stuff. more info coming up. x errolMon/May/2008 19:27

as usual with this stuff I am going to be completely pessimistic since any bloke with internet and a keyboard could've written that as a prank. it may be true, but I think it'd make sense to wait for him to drop by this board to mention it, or any other way there was more legitimacy to it. especially since after every album since cwu (plus the singles), there has been speculation around the chems being done. just saying, 4 times is a lot...

I'm with Biff. My money would be on a prankster. I'd like to think if they did call it quits, they'd announce it themselves.

I guess the real Erol would spell his name right, and not with 2 r's.

Oh right - I wasn't reading it as a permanent giving up... just the last gig of this tour...

I'd like to see a whole concert on dvd like the way underworld have done it (concert & visuals), but somewhere i have read that they won't do a live-dvd but i forgot why. Also they could put on 'the rock drill' on that bonus disc.

...because seeing the chems live on tv does no justice to the real experience.

@innerwatch : The Errol who manages all the online stuff about the brothers DOES have 2 r in his name.

It does no justice to the real experience - but it can get you majorly psyched for going to the next show...

It's like my home stereo does no justice to the Chems compared to their live shows - but for most of the time I'm happy to make do with it.

Give us live DVD :p

The "errol" in the Olympia shoutbox is suspect, as is all the Chems-throwing-in-the-towel speculation from previous years.

Errol is a professional and I highly doubt he'd make such a "The Chems are done and Olympia is their last gig ever" announcement in the shoutbox.

I'd love a live DVD too but Ed came on board a long while ago and said it's not going to happen. But you never know what the future holds, though...

I'd love a live DVD with multiple angles, just like Rollin & Scratchin in the D.A.F.T. DVD.

The Chems are far from done!

I heard rumors like this before and like always, it ends up being nonsense! Do you really think Olympia would be their last! Remember, the bros still have all these other songs in their heads and probably have more in the studio to finish. And what about all those other cities that they haven't performed at!

I think maybe The Chems will a take a very long break from touring after Olympia because they deserve it! They have their family and friends and it doesn't hurt to relax!

Errol would definitely give a formal announcement if anything like this would happen, but I dont see the Chems going nowhere!

Besides . .I'm willing to wait for EBW 100!

I suspect us at the chems forum will be all over chems stuff like EBW 100 where they bring in Jazz artists to do a reggae version of Surface To Air remixed 20 years down the line.

We as fans will always be going against the nay-sayers. We don't know what Tom and Ed are doing in their personal lives. If they think their done with being the bros then that will be a sad day. But there is that sense of hope in me that they will just keep going and have the longevity of a band like the rolling stones, New order (even with breaks), or Kraftwerk (I know bad examples but that's all I can think of). Who knows they could call it quits and decide to do solo stuff like the Hartnoll boys from orbital (well Phil at least).

So let's just enjoy their new releases like EBW 10 for now and when that day comes we can say "let's put on our classics and have a little dance, Shall we?"
