Sort of.
Be realistic guys, it only takes one bloke to put the mp3 up, then the whole world's got it!!
It's gonna happen, it can't be stopped. It sucks, but we've had this debate about file sharing before. It's bigger than the record companies are at the moment. I don't agree with it either, but you know it's gonna happen.

i dont want people coming to this forum going 'oh i just downloaded push the button from soulseek and its really good....'. i dont wanna know what people think of the tracks if they got them from an illegal source. i dont want to read where we can illeagal download the album from. i was speaking to the board moderator the other day and he said on downloading the album 'i feel as if i'd be stabbing mates in the back' which sums it up. so what are we gonna do if people get hold of the album and start braggin about it??? i think we can only do one thing and that should be everyone flames the bastard off the forum. what does anyone else think??

As for the galvanise mp3, I'm in the same boat wayno52. I can't buy it anywhere :(. All the euro sites that actually have it online say I'm in the wrong region to be able to get it, and none of the Australian sites have it. Wtf? An mp3 is an mp3, anyone should be able to buy one. I thought that was the point of the internet - you don't have to be in a particular country to get stuff from it, all of it is available worldwide. :?

I've downloaded the Chems stuff in the past, illegally. Did it with Come With Us - I've talked about this before, and you know, I just felt really crappy about teh whole thing when all was said and done and I'd made a promise to myself I wouldn't do that to the Chems again. I just want to respect their wishes, and I think it's good to see people here think like me in that respect. The band are only as good as their fans, and the fans are only as good as their band. Mutual respect.
I would also hope the moderator would be quick to remove the braggers' posts too.

01 Galvanize (Edit) 03:14i have downloaded it(galvanise) from my friendly neighbourhood ftp at least the scene knows how to release an mp3(no drm/playable in any portable device/with --aps quality an audiophile can't distinguish from a cd).
02 Galvanize 07:35
03 Rize Up 04:08
03 tracks 14:57 min
20,4 MB
i will download the album way before its in the shops if i can find it. then i'll be talkin to my friends about it and generally giving them better advertising than they could ever hope to pay for
hasn't anyone lent a cd to a friend to share your passion for the music?
none of this makes me a thief! i'll buy the singles and the single dvd if there is one, i'll buy the album on preorder at an exagerrated cost because i always support the artist.
i see a lot of you who downloaded the live show i linked to talking about flaming people, do you think your a thief for downloading that? i mean i doubt you've hunted out and bought electronic battle weapon 7 but it was played in that set. surely you are all in need of a spanking???

Downloading the album before it comes out on the other hand is wrong. It hasn't been released yet, it has effectively been stolen to be released and whether you buy the album in the end or not, you're still supporting a practice that sucks for the band and for the people that wait for the release. I don't know about you, but with albums I enjoy them much better if I've got the cover, sleevenotes etc. and I've just been to the record shop to buy it. It will be tempting to download it, but listening to a group of tracks without having the artwork that accompanies it sitting in my hands will be a little strange, and it will probably ruin the album for me (at least for a while), like it did with CWU until I went out and bought it.

not everyone sits with their cd player and artwork in hand listening to their new cd.
i have a portable mp3 player and listen to a lot of music walking to work i never use traditional cd's anymore. as soon as i buy one its ripped onto my hard drive and gets played through my pc. i like reading the sleeve and artwork but it doesn't make my music any better. decent artwork and packaging seems to be rare these days anyway.
as far as i'm concerned as long as you support the artists, buy the cd's , go see them live which i'm sure thay make more money from anyway and don't sell copies its all good.

to the letter of the law downloading live set is theft of copyright. but the only people your really gonna piss of is the record companies. i have seen plenty of official band forums that have bootleg trading sub-forums. bootlegs a snapshots of time, something that your never gonna able to purchase. as afro said i think they help generate a bands live show, and i think this is so ture. i think thats the great thing about these p2p networks, the trade in music that you can not commercially buy, be it live sets or radio one's essntial mix.
but the downside about the networks is the plain theft of music that come from people swapping copyrighted music. i think that downloading an album before release is plain theft. you can dress it up as a walking talking advertisment to your friends, but thats just bullshit. if they like it and you got it whats stopping them copying or dowloading it. once its released to can still advertise it to your friends!! and your on your p2p network and you got the magic album, your still sharing it with the rest of the world. spreading illeagal copies to people who probably wont but the album
wrekked_train you do what you gotta do, its your life. but i don't wanna know squat about the album until i got an official copy some how. i dont even want to know the track durration. if you get the album illeagally then thats your party, but keep it to yourself. cos the people here care about their band and we gonna here about if the propper way

my way to listen a chem/underworld album: first i need to listen it with my headphones, in my cd player and watching the incredible artwork(of course before i turn the lights off).plus with no lights just me alone in a darkroom.,is a incredible experience.
i do it in about the same way but i am usually outside alone somewhere. on the sea for example

hey, an underworld fan, too, eh? of course! would you recommend beaucoup fish and second toughest in the infants, 'cause they're on sale for pretty cheap at HMV ($69 HKD, which is like less than $10 USD :D)... yeah, I'm going to get them for sure.
