Lets try my hand at this from birth to now....

And I do warn you this is a long list. I have thought about completing this for months now. I know it is a little much to have a story with each but every show has a story for me.

Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (will be referred as ESO forthwith)

- I remember seeing them with my elementary when I was 6 years old. Funny how I now work for them (Edmonton Jubilee 91/92)

Alabama

- Yes my first concert was a country concert...dont remeber date. I was 7 or 8 (Edmonton Colliseum 93?)

Boys II Men, Montell Jordan

- First concert I wanted to go to was a R&B concert. (Edmonton Colliseum 1995)

Smashing Pumpkins, Grant Lee Buffalo

- 1st Rock Concert. 1st concert without the Parental watch. Was on my 11th Birthday. Fell Asleep in Pizza joint after show. (Edmonton Colliseum Sept. 1996)

Edgefest '99 = Hole, Matt Good Band, Silverchair, Len, Moist, Bigwreck, Edwin, Wide Mouth Mason, Finger Eleven

- Don't remeber much of the day. It was hot (Edmonton Commenwealth Stadium Jul. 99)

Bomba

- Band CAMP!! Some kids go for Sex, we went for Afro beat vibes (Camp Nakamun Nov. 2000)

In betwwen here it's a blur. There were Band trips in BC and Cali were we saw Jazz combos, Choirs, and orchestras but hell if I remember there names.

Roger Sanchez

- 1st DJ set ever. 1st time seeing the S-man. 1 party after I turned 18...2 months before (Edmonton The Standard Nov. 03)

Roger Sanchez

- 2nd time seeing him. 6 Hour set. I danced 5 hours of it (Edmonton The Standard April 04)

Frequency

- Some bad club night but it was the first with all my mates (Edmonton Decadance Feb 04)

Neal K & Dave Stone

- I remeber going to this set to see Judge Jules at -35 temps. Jules never showed but it still was a tight set by the locals (Edmonton Escape Feb. 04)

Judge Jules

- Massive night for me and my mates. I don't like Trance anymore but we had such a great time. (Edmonton Escape April 04)

- 1st overseas concert. 1st and most egendary chems set I've seen. Love at first sight/listen (Japan Jul/Aug 04)

Tiesto

- Went last minute (Edmonton Escape Aug 04)

Bad Boy Bill

- Introduced one of my friends to the club scene who is now a major rave kid (Edmonton The Standard Nov 04)

- When he first started using Ableton. Played Hold Tight London for 12 minutes (Edmonton The Standard Apr 05)

Killers (2nd), Teagan & Sara (Edmonton Shaw Conference Centre Apr 05)

- Thought it would be cool to see again after Fuji 04. Was disapointed. 1st show with my mate who is my partner in crime for going to gigs now a days.

Chemical Brothers (2nd), New Order (1st), Hernan Cattenao

- 1st hook up at a gig during New Order. Crowd not into chems at all. Go search oakland thread for more. Got my Push the Button Hoodie. Great weekend Holiday down in San Fran (Oakland Harvey J. Kaiser Apr 05)

K-OS, Moka Only

- Got lots of positive comments for wearing my Push the Button hoodie. Also has to pull my friend out of the beer gardens when she kept getting her assed grabbed by every guy that walked by. (Edmonton Shaw Conference Centre Jul 05)

I can only dream of going to some of the shows you people have been to. I have only been to one show worth mentioning here, I'll try not to bore you with my story. I am a 50 year old Aussie and in March last year the Chemical Brothers came and did a show in Sydney. My misses and I decided to see them. I was a bit of a fan, my misses just thought she'd come along for the ride.

Being 50 years old, with children in their 20's and grandchildren it has been over 25 years since we had taken substances other than a few beers with dinner. This night we had ecstasy for the first time ever and, what can I say, OMG!! The Sydney Entertainment Centre went off!! It was like a rave party of 15000 people. I have never seen anything like it before. At one point I looked at my misses and her eyes had these hugely dilated pupils, she looked like she was tripping and she just said "oh my god, sensory overload!". That screen on the stage was amazing, the lights were fantastic and the music swept up the whole place into a frenzy, us included.

Luckily for us we stayed in a hotel across the road from the venue so we only had about 10 metres to walk after the show. We spent the rest of the night debating whether it was the music or the drugs that made it so good. We kept saying "it had to be the music" .. then a few seconds later "no, it must have been the drugs". Still a topic of discussion to this day. Without the drugs I don't think it would have been as good, but the music .... I can't get enough Chemical Brothers. Over a year later and we still can't get over that night.

Since then I have been looking for other music as good, had more pills and listened to various other artists, none of them do it as good as the Chemical Brothers do. If they don't come back to Australia in the next couple of years I will definitely have to travel OS to see them again.

Aww. Krisper - that is actually a very sweet story. Thank you for sharing - it wasn't boring at all. :) I'm glad you and your wife had such a good time at the show.

Some people have only seen 1 show and others have seen dozens... Every story is unique as the individual - yet it's funny how a good time is the same for all. :) I wish everyone can have the oppotunity to see the Chems just once because it's an amazingly intimate yet social experience that no other atmosphere (at least what I've seen live) can replicate. There's lots of people on this forum and off who've seen the Chems at various stages of sobriety, heh - I don't think it matters how you choose to enjoy the Chemical Brothers - as long as you're enjoying the show, that's all that counts!!

I've loved the Chems both sober and not, but there's something to be said about being on a substance which fully allows you to connect to the energy which comes from the shows. :D -ABSOLUTELY- phenomenal.

With that said, however, it's also not impossible to experience the energy sober. I think there are many, many fans out there who have blown their minds over the experience of being there without drugs. People who devote their lives to sobriety are completely capable of reaching amazing peaks, and perhaps, while they may not reach the peaks that all of us druggies reach, comparatively, they may very well peak harder than they have ever before during a Chems set.

As for me, seeing the Chems in 2002 for the first time and experiencing MDMA for the first time simultaneously was one of the most positive, life changing experiences I have had to this day.

saw the chems 4 times (3 live-, 1 djset)... not doing drugs at all (hopefully w**d doesn't count). and my first chems gig was phenomenal without MDMA, acid or something else. after this gig me and my dudes agreed, that it was the best thing NOT to do MDMA cause if we had done it maybe our heads would have been exploded by the rush of love.

act's i've seen:

eagles of death metal: nice and pure rock n roll to start with

bloc party: hmmm, block party...some nice synths during their gig, but they only played 1 h and 10 mins

2manydjs: nice set, but there was something wrong with their equipment; started with a edit of hey boy hey girl (soulwax remix). olace was packed too

grace jones: what a woman, what a show...played all her old stuff.

kele (bloc party dj set): this was nice, a little floor and kele djing in front of crazy girls (played jay -z, mia n stuff), was cool seeing kele happy and dancing with a class of vodka in his hand.

the prodigy: their set works good on festivals, massive beats and bass, where headlining the last day on the main stage.

bookashade/azzido da bass/MSTRKRFT/high contrast: solid sets

and last not least BOYS NOIZE: he's a god on the turntables. last night i thought justice+the chemical brothers=BOYS NOIZE. have no words for that, it was just sick (in a positive way). hope there will be a record of this set.

couldn't make it to carl cox, the crystal method, crystal castles, prydz and radiohead cause im not 2 people :( not the best timetable policy.

this was my last festival this summer but i enjoyed it a lot...
