Maybe one day Tom and Ed can reach middle ground on a live DVD project
if you take the word 'live' out of that sentence then you probably describe how the further dvd came about. personally i think the further dvd is a more exciting concept than a live dvd. if you got the everything, everything dvd by underworld there and option where you can watch the bands visuals rather than the gig, which is far more exciting than watching a couple of blokes behind a mixer.
if you want to see live video of the chems record them of the telly or download the various video that float round the net.
while i'm on the subject of the further dvd, lets just through an idea out there that hasn't been mentioned. 5.1 surround, nice idea but im not holding my breath! hopefully the dvd will be higher quality of sound over the dvd at 48kHz.
lets enjoy the dvd that coming out soon rather than a dvd/blu-ray that might never be.

If the visuals with further are coming on DVD,the next logical step is a blu ray release in a few months.
I think this is as close to a live DVD as we'll ever get. But I'm not fussed. Trying to compress the complete aural and visual overload you get at a chems gig is impossible.

I personally love watching live sets from the Chems. It's not so much watching them behind their mixers, or waiting for Tom to make a funny face or Ed doing the ladder - what excites me is hearing the songs peak, and the visuals and peoples' reactions are peaking right along with it. The Fuji footage of Hoops and seeing that bouncing wave of people is awesome, it's a perfect example of how in control the music is and how it plays a crowd. A Live dvd would be more than gig footage - The Live Secret Technology thread that Tom started offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes which is fascinating as it's like the central nervous system of all gigs... there's so many ways a "live dvd" could pan out. There's so many concepts that could make it work.
But that's neither here nor there. I'm super excited about the Further DVD concept and this is bonus to the music we're already going to get. Although blu-ray would be nice, it's not the end of the world if it's not in pupil bursting high def. 5.1 would be splendid but that would mean the Chems would have had to record Further in 5.1 rather than in just stereo...?

I'm little confused that the DVD with visuals is coming out right before tour...
I think they should release it after. Cause when it comes out now... I won't resist and I WILL watch it for sure.
This spoils the gig a little bit ....

nah - I don't think it will spoil the gig. Unless you had a 40 foot high LED television screen in your living room, a megawatt soundsystem that would literally blow away your town center, and a laser infrastructure that would peel the paint off your neighbor's front doors!
