Yeah, I know, I know...of course they enjoy it MOM ! Please...I have to ring off now ! Ok, no drugs,no more than one beer...Mom, I'm 38 ! Damn, could you let me quiet please ? Yeah, I'll say "Hello !" from you to Ed...what ? No, I won't let you listen to the show through the phone ! Oops, I'm running out of battery, good night !"
"Dude, what are you doin' ?

@Pooter and Maboul59... U Guys are funny! Tom had a phone? I didn't like Crappers (I mean Crookers!)
Biff, I also had problems spotting tracks but you had a better ear than I do! I just remembered the 'these chemicals good/bad' sample which sounded creepy but cool as well as other tracks. Maybe T and E might give the playlist or if someone else has it. BTW, Your tall in person bro! Good vids Profunk..Another perspective view!
And Whirls ...Beautiful review! Now for a book!
It's the Popof Remix 1..Got it!
And one more thing I forgot to say:
I'm glad I met you all there in the flesh! Can't wait till we meet again! And of course, Thanks to
T and E for the epic set. I'm glad you Bros came to Coachella and represented.

Hahaha no Tom didn't have a phone. But in the flickr link Den_B posted, it looks like Tom's having a chat about the gig with Mum on the telephone.
And Ryno - I am sure I speak for the gang here when I say that it's our pleasure to recap the gig. I'd like to thank everyone involved in this thread too because the forum gets so painfully slow when things are quiet on the Chemical front. So glad the Chems do dj sets inbetween albums - keeps things going as well as puts all those annoying 'I think the Chems aren't gonna make another album they're gonna break up' rumors. I'm SO grateful they made the trek all the way out to California to play our little Coachella festival and show us a fun time. <3
Anyway I think I viewed that magical clip for the 15th time just now. And all the talk about it sounding like Baba O'Reilly made me drag out some Who and give it a listen. I now wonder if it is a sample, or if those blippy intertwining swirls of sonic flutterbys were a bonafide Tom and Ed creation. Whether the source of that sound matters remains to be seen/heard (at least for me)... I love how it sits within the tune. It doesn't sound like it's just floating aimlessly on top of the track - it's kneaded right into the goodness.
@inchemwetrust - once again I am so glad you met up with Pooter, Biff, Bosco my husband and me. I do tend to go off the deep and and get wordy with my babbling reviews. If The Chems ever need someone to, oh, I don't know... Write a book, help write a tour program, follow them around and write gig reviews from around the world... well, I wouldn't mind a career change. :P

Oh, and Bosco - I've been poking my head around the Coachella forums to read some feedback. Thanks for sticking up for the Chems and setting the record straight (no pun intended) by saying the feel of the set is reminiscent of a live gig, some of the tunes they played were classic Chems staples, and most importantly new stuff was previewed.
There seems to be some cool people on that board (quite a few seemed to have a fantastic time at the show and one person there mentioned how the Chems set themselves apart from all the other electro bands playing that day) But I am a bit perplexed as to how some people said they were bored. Granted, some people said they were bored at first but it got better and they enjoyed themselves especially the last 10 minutes (I did see some people standing and not doing much of anything but those types were few and far between - they were probably securing a good spot to see mstrkrft so that's fine. I do think those who voiced their opinions saying the set was were traumatized by the fact this wasn't a gig with racks of gear and explosive visuals acting as a backdrop to a greatest hits live act.
The Chems seem to enjoy Coachella and I hope they can make it back there once their new album is out. They'd be great again in the Sahara or on the massive lawn for the main stage.
I'm sure Paris Hilton would be down with that as well. Apparently (according to a couple of scattered posts in a couple of Coachella threads) some people saw her getting her groove on during the set, then she hunkered down near the ground in a huddled mass to smoke some dope. heh. She's not the first and she won't be the last.

All righty - one more thing to get off of my chest. This is a bit random and not Chemical related... but I'm confused over this whole Heineken Experience.
I got a brief description from the Desert Sun newspaper - apparently it's the place at the fest to get the coldest beer. But the line getting into the Heineken Experience (which consisted of 2 domed tents blaring cheesy trance and house) was nothing short of insanity. Like waiting for the Finding Nemo ride at Disneyland in the dead of August. What was really weird is I saw people entering (slowly... and one person at a time), but I could not for the life of me figure out where people were supposed to be exiting from. I didn't see an exit.
So what the hell happens in there? Where did all the people go? Did they make it out alive or what? It creeped me out. No beer no matter how frothy and cold is worth such a risk. It should have been called the Soylent Green Experience given that I didn't see one freakin soul exit the place.

heineken green rooms sucks as well, whirly. massive commercial partys (just green lasers and visuals). anyway, i'm looking forward to see the chems in vienna in the shitty green room (the two other dj's at the party are those kind of cheeeesy trance/house dj's).
but the venue will definitely be first class as the viennapeople; nearly all the peeps who where attending their livegig 2007 will be there for sure.
hope the play longer as 1 1/2h and give us a taste of their new material.
..and i wanna be backstage as well ;););)

@Whirls: HA! Soylent Green Experience. lol
I didn't get the impression from the Coachella boards and YouTube posts that many people -didn't- dig the Chems' set. There are a few idiots going on with the likes of "NO VISUALS OMFG WTF RUINED MY NIGHT" and other such nonsense, but the ratio weighs heavily on the side of people who thought it was an awesome experience.
In fact, hilariously, my office manager went to Coachella and I mentioned that I went on Saturday night to see the Chems DJ. Her eyes lit up and she said, "I LOVED The Chemical Brothers."
And for all intents and purposes, that's pretty much the reaction I feel from nearly everything I've read. I completely expected nay-sayers on the Coachella boards; after all, it's full of a bunch of fucktards. ;-)
I would say it's an inarguable point that all in all, they came, they dropped some FANTASTIC beats and skills behind the decks, wowed us with new music, created some amazing moments, and left thousands of people with an amazing hour and a half.

I am in the middle of a bad murphy's law trait right now.
It just so happens that 3 days after the fact I get enough money that I would have been able to go to coachella. Damn! well I guess it goes to Fuji Rock '10. (Bos you still in?)

That's not Murphy's Law. ;-) That's cosmic irony, which isn't really irony at all, just shitty luck.
Murphy's Law is the idea that anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and from what you've indicated something has actually gone right. w00t
As always, forgive my anal nature toward grammar.

the first track with "laid back" is some vocal hook version of Hot Chip - Over and Over, and then the second track is Digtialism- Jupiter Room
