If you are planning on seeing james lavelle, dont bother.
we left after 30 minutes- he was that bad.
ive never witnessed such a piss poor display of dj'ing.
woefully average selection of tunes, EVERY SINGLE MIX WAS A TRAIN WRECK, WHICH LASTED FOREVER!!, and driving the system so hard it distorted so much u could barely make out the mush of the music.
ive never seen anyone kill a floor as quickly.
if we hadnt witnesssed radioslave playing impeccably before lavelle came on i would have said it was a problem with the equipment - it wasnt.
absolute piss- whers my 8 james?

to be fair the actual tunes he played wreent that bad - i mean they werent great but they werent exciting - kind of proggy breaks with a bit of trendy minimal tech thrown in - its just his programming was terrible, and coz he didnt work the system right he just made average records sound bad.
and seriously the mixing - jesus christ - i mean i know everyone has there off days but this was half an hour of wreck after wreck, and it wasnt like he bought it in out of time then swiftly moved it across - he just left them playing out of time!!!
if im payin 8 of my hard earned cash i expect at least a bit of proffessionalism. i dont wanna hear perfect mixing all night, thats fine, but seriously this man was a proper buzz killer.

maybe his local store ran out of bathing ape?
He's not known for being "a bit sasha" behind the decks but last night was bad. it did seem odd as mips said that he left the tracks clattering for so long...getting more and more out time.
and as for the filter sweeps on the system he was driving to buggery?....feel the tinnitus
couple of beans before he went on?..who knows......not good anyway
as for that global underground mix antype - there's an old cream classics mix cd he did years ago which I think it turned out he hadn't actually mixed. he picked the tunes and got the psychonauts to mix it...
great mix actually - cream live I think it's called.
ON A POSITIVE
we actually went to see matt edwards (radioslave/rekid) and he was splendid. lovely selection of wiggly tech which had a packed room really cooking. I think that made it all the more disappointing when james lavelle came on.

Cream Live Two: CD3.
Yeah Mipps mentioned the nauts mixing it, I am a little shocked. That CD for me is something special. To be fair though, he did choose an amazing selection of tunes so it's not all bad.

I've heard quite a few mixes from Lavelle and I'd have to say I'm a bit of a fan. Fabriclive #01, GlobalUnderground 26 Romania have definitely been some of my favorites to put on while driving on long trips.
It's shocking to hear that he f*cked up so badly in his most recent set... I saw him at Coachella in '05, and though I wasn't horribly in love with the set he played as far as the tracks went, I don't remember any serious trainwrecking.

That was my impression as well, but I knew far less about DJing then than I do now.
Did end his set with Jacques Lu Cont mix of 'Mr. Brightside' into bootleg of 'Where The Streets Have No Name', which I liked...
But the Mips and Chebbs have spoken and I definetly trust their judgement. Maybe he was pilled.

go to the bulldog on st james st.....
no I'm not that mean.
I take it you're getting the train in?....
it depends on what you want to be honest. we don't tend to drink right in the centre of the city as a lot of the pubs are shocking and the sidewinder is approx 4 seconds from my front door.
stay away from west street unless yates/weatherspoons/fist fights with shirted blokes are your bag...
um....the hope on queens road (road as you come out of the station) isn't too bad for a pre-club beer. if you want a quiet pint then the pond on gloucester road is cool, but quite small
if you fancy a wonder then the st james is alright but quite busy...
hope that helps
