I love reading all these positive things that are being said about Further! I have to say it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. :-) Words like "opus", "masterpiece", "captivating", "superb", "awesome", "fascinating" etc etc etc etc all thrown about in these threads and for good reason - there are not enough words in the dictionary or thesaurus to properly describe Further. Keep it coming, guys - it's good reading and the album is so deserving of all the nice things people are saying about it!!

Hey Mia. Sorry to say, I am not impressed. I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but this whole album is to me as what "Star Guitar" was to me as a single. And you know my opinion on that. :D Anyway, I shall be posting a detailed review later, but I'm afraid that this, for me, is Surrender all over again.

Joslyn noticed that snow's synth look like those form krafterk on autobahn, I totally agree ! More, there is the beat of k+d+b that remind me many krautrock tracks of old deutsch bands. To finish I'm surprised that nobody noticed that wonders of the deep sound like the beginning of "the robot" by... Kraftwerk again !
I think the chems album have more and more hint thr kraftwerk, nice !

Yeah, i noticed "The Robots" sample (or rework) as well. I think it's really cool the Chems sampling one of the most epic bands that revolutionised music.
You're never too retarded to RAVE!!!

just cos it sounds a bit like it doesnt mean it's a 'sample'
a sample is when you record a piece of someone else's song and put it in your song

just making a similar sound on your synth is not a sample

I don't think the Chems sampled Die Roboter.

They had robots on the video screen during their We are the night tour. Those were awesome.

But I'm not impressed by sampling Kraftwerk. I had Kraftwerk samples back in 1992. The 2 live crew sampled Kraftwerk in "Dick Almighty".

By the way, the Chems already sampled Kraftwerk : Leave Home contains a sample of "Ohm Sweet Ohm".

It wasn't obvious anyway. Leave Home is such a kick ass track that you will never even think of any samples that were taken from anywhere. I wish that Further had such a track. But it doesn't. The only track I like is Horse Power, and it's ruined by the actual horse sample in it. Much like Orange Wedge, which was in my opinion the ONLY good track on Surrender, and ruined by a stupid barking dog.

It wasN'T obvious ?! OK, just listen to the first second of each track and tell me it's not an obvious sample :

OK, this sample isn't credited in the booklet of EPD but there are a lot of samples which are not credited.

Before the walls of flames engulf us all - I'd like to interrupt this regularly scheduled programming to remind everyone that we are free to have our opinions about the music, and if we don't agree - then let's just agree to disagree.

Agreed?

OK.

Carry on.

I just gave the short version of my review. The long version still needs some more work, but it will be a worthwile read. I guess I have to put some effort into it. About as much effort as Tom and Ed put into Further, because I can't imagine that it's going any further than the imagination of a three year old with a brand new casio keyboard.
