I finally managed to get a chance to watch the DVD. Previously, I watched the Further Experience on my computer from the iTunes pass and we had transferred that onto our PS3 to watch on our television. Needless to say the visuals on the DVD are far superior! So much cleaner and more defined.

I'm not sure what my favorite visuals from the experience are yet, but I'm leaning toward the water scenes from Snow and Wonders Of The Deep. They are absolutely gorgeous, fluid and breathtaking and they so beautifully accompany the music. They open and close the book of Further, they set the mood - and I think this is going to look massive in a live setting!

I'm interested in reading what your thoughts are. What are your favorites, what did you love and what didn't you like? For those who weren't at Roundhouse or Sonar - what parts of the Further visuals are you most looking forward to seeing on the giant LED screens when you go to see the Chems live?

I have similar thoughts Whirlygirl. I don't really have a favorite, but the start scene in the water is amazing, it brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it, then the journey you are taken on through the album finishing with the return to the surface. I have only watched it 3 times so far as I don't like to flood myself with things I love. Every time it finishes my only thought is 'WOW'.

I like that part between 0:00 and 51:58.

But seriously, the enitre thing is awesome. I don't think I have any favorites, but if I had to choose, it'd be Escape Velocity. It's such a journey, there are so many concepts and ideas, unlike the other videos, which gravitate around one idea or concept. EV takes you on an epic trip through Dot Universe at the speed of light and leaves you wanting the spacial controls right where they are - thank you very much.

Escape Velocity is also the one I want to see most live. The tunnel scene, especially, that was my favorite part of the film, and on such a big screen, I can't imagine how immersive that would be.

the most impressive visuals live are escape velocity, absolutely no doubt. it's like you have be trapped inside a computer game, proper sensory overload.

I've seen the visual experience only once till now, EV twice - first viewing I found it a bit dark compared to my perception of it on hearing the song - I liked it much more on second watch - I just don't like the dotman's version of the ending vocal sample stuck in my head - I had a much more chilled out junkie in my head adjusting those spatial controls.
Also I found Dissolve a bit repetitive if I remember right, not too much variation in the theme - same with Swoon - good but not satisfying from a home film's perspective, I'm sure the same visuals live will be mindblowing.

My favourite visual is the diving scene in Snow. When the bass drops and Caroline starts diving in the water in hyperslomo ia absolutly amazing. In can not listen to Snow without getting the visual in my mind.

I thought it was a really good idea incorporating the visuals with the music and using flatnosegeorge seemed appropriate. They are very effective seeing them live, bigger than life with the synched lights showing through so it looks "real" or 3D like. I always said to people that have never been to a live chems gig that you dont need to be "off your head" to go to one because the visuals will take you there (as well as the main ingredient, the live versions of the songs!!)

I do however felt it wasnt as effective as just viewing the visuals by themselves on the DVD, felt like it was lacking a bit. I think its because so much is going on in a live environment and how its presented on a different platfom is how it makes that better. Nice concept though. It was like going the journey of life with caroline and how towards the end she comes up for air as if it was all a dream or something. LOVE Another World, melancholy yet uplifting at the same time. Dissolve is homage to the Psychedelia era we all know and love..... 2 visuals that seemed to work better live than on the DVD were Horse Power and KDB. These two were complimented with the synched lighting really well live and bigger but on the DVD seemed a bit repetitive and seemed it didnt really have a good enough platform to present it self like in the live environment.... Anyway I hate to nit pick cause I love the chems work and always will, influenced my life more than I thought...
Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.
