This:

Quote

By the time the click and thump of snare and bass drum arrive, the sounds are all-encompassing, swirling around you with dizzying, disorientating effect. Noises come untethered by constraints of volume, seemingly leaping from the speakers with a life of their own.

And this:

Quote

"Further" is the culmination of nearly two decades of psychedelic exploration, an immersive collection that finds The Chemical Brothers at their least-restrained and most-melodic best.

I am still trying to wrap my head around this. I know what I heard last April at Coachella was the future but knowing we're only a couple months away from having the future in our hands and in our ears is kind of freaking me out in a good way. I am so bad at being all speculative but brother_ging said something along the lines of this being a concept album, and I find that idea intriguing. Between the album and the accompanying DVD, the idea doesn't seem far fetched at all.

I can appreciate whoever wrote that vivid description of their new album. As if the fresh new website and forum isn't hype inducing enough!

I tried to find if anyone on the Erol Alkan board were talking about his tweet concerning the 11 minute track--I found nothing, except that apparently many of them dislike Invaders Must Die because of the vocals among other complaints. WTH? I thought all the vocals were well placed, and certainly not bad Posted Image

Haha, what if there is a track that's like 20 minutes long and the rest are normal length?

I was hoping that the new forum would give some clues to the artwork, but unless its a minimalist grey cover their not giving that much away yet. Although they could just go all out and use the crazy background on the main page

Oh and I really do hope there are no "iTunes exclusive" songs this time. But maybe because they have 8 tracks with 8 movies to go with them, they wont want to release a bonus track all by itself and break from the theme of the whole album... Or maybe they will just release an "iTunes exclusive" edition :(

This is amazing news! They really are pioneers of great music. I'm avoiding all sound and vision of this epic album until I have it in my hands.

^^^^^ Seconded, doing that made we are the night so much more exciting, plus it was kinda fun avoiding hearing do it again on the radio, almost like a game...

having said that, it was a shame saturate turned out to be EBW8, even though it's one of my favourite chem songs ever, it was the one track on the album that i wasn't suprised by on first listen.

EP, I caught that sneaker. This album probably has some long tracks on none like harpoons or no path to follow. the first chems album that's an adjective and not a verb, how controversial

Dude! "Further" IS a verb!! :D

http://dictionary.we...rther%5Bverb%5D

As in, "With this album the Chems are going to FURTHER the cause of Chemical Beats and Psychedelic Exploration!"

So excited to hear that the cause is alive and well in 2010!!

When i 1st read about the new album i felt a bit underwhelmed as it didn't sound like a normal Chem's album but having read about it again & again I'm really excited. All i can think of is roll on the 20th May and the roundhouse gig. Taking my girlfriend to see them for the 1st time so i get the feeling it's going to be extra special.

Just noticed i'm back to been a noob with 1 post

for all those people who (constantly) ask about a live DVD....this is as close to that as we'll ever get, and imo its a far better idea....we'll be able to re-live the roundhouse gigs in their entirity!

Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

Yeah! It's everything! It's versatile! Just like our beloved Tom and Ed! Ok, I think I'm done now.
