I have two. 1 First time i saw the chems in pompey, them opening with come with us, hereing the crushing roll of the drums after the long build up before the drum beat pumped hard in -pure estasy! 2 Seeing the image of a clown and hereing acid children for the first time at wolves, it really was a chilling moment!

Coachella, 2002.
The whole weekend was a beautiful series of moments that can't be narrowed down to just one Chemical moment, as they are inter-related and a part of the whole picture - they are stuck in time as and as one gigantic moment. in my memory.
It started out when I met my 'crew,' a great bunch of people from the old mailing list, at a restaurant the night before the festival. We stayed up all night in a house loaned out to us from an acquaintance of a fellow listee. The next morning we were all sleepy eyed but rearing to go - The girls were all primping and making sure they looked all right, and the guys all looked like the bums they were. ;) Then it was pancakes, beer, special muffins (block walkin treats, hehe) and the long trek in sweltering heat to the venue.
I saw lots of bands that day, but I was most looking foward to seeing the Brothers with all these great people I met, because of the Chemical Brothers. I missed the opps the year before and it was the people I most wanted to see the Chemicals with.
My head damn near exploded from the opening of Come With Us to the gentle comedown of The Test. The walk back to the house was pleasant and reflective and very trippy cool under the warm starry sky. Back at the house it was crash and burn, but we all stayed up late just shooting the shit anyway.
The next morning when my husband and I were packing our overnight gear in our car and saying goodbye, I almost got all teary eyed (cheesy and melodramatic, I know) I didn't want the weekend to end and I didn't want to say goodbye because I didn't know when I was going to see my Chemical Brothers and Sisters again.
Of course there's other Chemical moments and times that stick out in my memory, but that weekend went better than fiction!

Paper begining to kick in.....walls are moving........grins of fear and panics of joy. I hear the silence. Female vocals make the hair on my neck stand up. Purple rotating lights shine from the robots on stage. Soothing..so southing....flutes spiral round the room......"brothas gonna work it out....brothas gonna work it out". She calmly sings again.."brothas gonna work it out....brothas gonna work it out". STROBE-LIGHT EXPLOSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Fury Of bass pounding Loops activate the springs on the shoes of those who surround me. I, in the middle melt into the warmth of the soundwaves crashing over me. Beams of color across the walls prove to me that the sounds I hear are true.
...and that was just the into and the first song. I am still unable to describe TPPR.

crushed by a wave of base, standing in front, up agains about 25 subwoofers, already tripping hard on cid...slowly the lyrics come in.. turn off your mind.. relax and float down stream..
either that or realising my vision was getting distorted by the bass at coachella 2001..
