"With all the hype surrounding Daft Punk and their upcoming Tron: Legacy soundtrack, another famous electro duo is set to prove that the electro robots aren’t the only ones who can write music for film. Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, better known worldwide as The Chemical Brothers, will provide the score for director Joe Wright’s (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, The Soloist) newest film, Hanna.

Wright made the revelation during the film’s October 9th screening at the New York Comic Con. “I’ve been talking to them, and we’re very excited about that. I was very excited to work with them on the score, as you know, my previous films have sounded very classical, working with Dario Marinelli, he won the Oscar for the Atonement score,” explained Wright. “But I was very excited to do something with a lot of bass. It’s very loud.”

Of course, it’s easy to see why the duo’s twisted, acid beats may play better than Marinelli’s signature piano-based scores for a film about a 14-year old girl (Saoirse Ronan) who was raised by her father (Eric Bana) in Eastern Europe to be a cold-blooded killer. Nothing like “Chemical Beats” ringing over the top of a teenage assassin’s next hired-hit. Plus, Wright knows a thing or two about music. Atonement took home best score in 2007, and he recently married Ravi Shankar’s daughter Anoushka Shankar. So, yeah, this should be good.

Hanna is expected to hit theaters April 8th 2011."
