Well than , let me explain you.
Live earth is a concert that will be taking place today in Holland , England , Sydney , New York , Hamburg , Tokyo , Johannesburg and Rio de Janeiro.
There are amazing concerts , from Genesis to Linkin Park , from Kasabian to Damian Rice , Madonna to the RHCP , Beastie Boys , Bloc Party , Duran Duran , The Police Foo Fighters , Keane , and many many more artists! All over the world!
Its all to raise awareness for the climate problems we have.
Great concept , great concerts, and hopefully it will open people's eyes.

Yeah, a good thing actually! Hopefully it will sensitize people's view on global things much more. But I think it won't...
Speaking of great bands I'm not so sure about RHCP anymore. Saw them last wednesday a second time and was a little pissed off. They only played 1:5h and looked really bored taking up just their duty. They didn't look like they had fun there. I was prettey disappointed compared to that gig 4 years ago. That was amazing and full of energy.
Hope they will do better on Live Earth!

See, that is something i have to disagree with.
Yes , some artists mitght use this just as promotion for theirselves - but in the end , its about the main goal. People our age , the new generation , are impressed by superstars , and will listen to them.
its not right that artists use those things for promotional matters , but in the end what matters is the main goal , for example raising money , and those kids in africa ( live aid ) dont give a fuck weather u2 raised money because they actually care ( i believe they do ) or because the want to promote themselves , they care about the vaccins they get so they dont die of some disease,
Just my 2 cents ;)

Fair point jeanie, its just i personally dont appreciate a performance at one of these types of things if its obvious they are just churning out their new single to sell it and arent promoting the message. I mean half the audience today will be going just for the music then go home in their gas guzzling car then switch all their lights on and put too much water in the kettle, so although money might be raised, has it really made enough people aware.

But what other options do we have ?
You cant force people to shower for 5 minutes instead of 8. You can't give them a fine when they dont have energy saving lightbulbs instead of the normal ones. At least something is done , and it might not change the world, its better to do something than to sit back and watch how global warming is fucking up our world.
It's not a good attitude to think " What difference will i make " because if everybody makes one little change in their life ( for example , i learned how to drive " new style " wich is less bad for the enviroment ) , it will make a big difference on a larger scale.
We dont do our wash on 90C , but on 60 or 40C.
We dont put our telly's on standby but we turn them off.
We dont put the heather on until really necesarry.
Its those little things but if everybody does them , it will be a big thing.

Ok, I made this topic already but let me explain something.
.
All of these massively huge concerts that are happening all over the world are for saving the world by not using so much electricity and polluting the environment.
Now let me ask you a question: How did all the people get to these concerts? Hmmm, let me see, um, how about cars, airplanes, trains etc. So isn't that kind of contradicting what the whole thing is about? I mean, it's just funny how much electricity/gas/energy was used just for people to get there. But i'm not done.
.
Let me ask another question: How much energy do you think these stages across the world are using? The answer: A hell of a fucking lot. Do you see all those crazy lights? All the amplifiers, speakers, lights, etc. Once again, they seem to be using a crap load of energy to promote saving energy. >_>
.
One more question: How many people are watching LIVE EARTH on their television? A lot. Now how much energy is being used there? Let me see, that’s gotta be at least 6 million people right? Because that’s what they said themselves. Right? So 6 million TV sets being used for a whole day straight? Doesn't sound very eco friendly to me.
.
I’d also like to bring up all the bands that were supposed to play but backed out because they realized that the whole idea was just stupid. They are: Roger Waters, The Who, ACDC, Phil Collins, Coldplay, Metric, Bob Geldoff, Matthew Good Band, etc. The list goes on with other bands I don’t really know that well.
.
So finally, the whole concerts are taking up more energy than they will save. If they want to save energy/the environment then they shouldn’t of even had this concert. They should have had everyone go home ad not use any electricity or cars for a whole day. Now that would actually do something. Not wasting energy on huge sound systems for crappy bands that nobody’s ever heard of. /rant_over
.
Well at least the police are playing!
