Hmm, try listening to BGWIO and Live at the Social, there's some brilliant acid house in the middle of those, some real classics.

I found a website that had examples of loads of kinds of electronic music, acid house was one of them, but I don't have the URL with me here. If I've got time, I'll dig it out tonight

^Is that the Flash thing where it has loads of different genres explained and contains little samples? cos that is brilliant.

If you want to get to the root of it all, go back to the fetal beginnings and listen to the pioneer, Phuture.

Then give a listen to 808 State.

Personally I really like the early Acid House weirdness provided by Psychic TV's "Jack the Tab" record. It's definitely a cornerstone of "techno" or "tekno" depending on if you want to go by the sleeve's spelling or not. It's got strange samples throughout and it's super headtrippy. A good addition to any collection, especially if you want to boast about the weird stuff you've acquired. ;)

Could always track down Jon Carter's Mixmag covermount CD 'Acid House Reborn' on eBay. That's what I did. Good stuff: Bam Bam 'Where's Your Child?', Chems 'EBW 6', a Josh Wink track, lots of other good stuff as an intro to post-millenial acid house.

But, yeah, Phuture's 'Acid Trax' is an absolute must.

Err, "The Gate" isn't really acid house - it's got no 303, and it a breaks song.

A totally brilliant song, but not acid house. But some of those others are classics - Metro, both FBS tracks, pure quality.

Let us not forget Orbital - Chime in our search for acid house, shows that less is more.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to check out Moby's first album, the self-titled one. That's got some old school acid tracks on it, not necessarily classics, but worth a listen.
