Well said whirly. I recently had to move and I really didn't want to move in to a place with a bunch of Frat people or just bratty college students, so myspace saved me a few times from checking out places that I knew I wouldn't have related with.

My profile is private right now (it's not usually, and if you ask I just might tell you why it's going to be private for the next two weeks), but I'd love any adds from forum peeps.

I can't log on to MySpace right now from work--I suspect they've just put a block on it. Stupid IT people keeping me from wasting time. Lamesauce x 5.7.

That said I'd be lying if I said I haven't succombed to the dark side. It does have its lure. I've been on myspace more in the past couple months than I have from 2004 to new year's day 2007.

You're going to have some explaining to do tonight, because as far as I'm concerned, myspace is just match.com for teenagers, and I want to know why you're tryin to meet teenagers }:-@ No conceivable use besides getting laid by underage strangers. You might as well have a secret AOL account.

im in total agreement with Stasherino. Myspace is just a glorified dating site. However, I must admit the free music they have on there is very convenient, and the fact your able to advertise your band/group for free, is pretty sweet.

I think it's good just for making friends, I am kinda grossed out by the idea of going there for dating, but I'm not shy so that maybe why, I know when I was like 15 I would go on AIM to talk to girls I liked, because I wasn't "in my element" yet.

I just think it's fun because it's replaced email for contacting a lot of people and it's visually more entertaining, little bit personal, and just sometimes you learn something interesting about your friends. Creating a website would be a better idea, but there's some cheap fun to it, plus it is easier to find friends on there than it might be for everone having a url.

I hated it too but my best friend registered me and I was finally just like "Aw fhuk it, I'll do it..." Same thing happened with me getting a cell phone, two compelling moments in life where i felt like a total sell out, but they have made life a bit easer at times...

Are you serious??

Affordable cell phones are possibly one of the greatest technological advances mankind has made to date! The combination of caller ID (which not many landlines have), and the ability to be able to get hold of someone anywhere is incredible. Amazingly convienient, and a great safety feature - what do you have against them? :-?

Cell phones for phoning + text messaging is a great idea. What I really object to are the ones that play music OUT LOUD. Many a tube or bus journey has been wrecked by some abnoxious tosser playing what he considers to be good music out loud through his mobile phone - it's just plain anti-social. I appreciate that not everyone wants to listen to the chems, but that's why I don't play it out loud - I have headphones!

I furthermore get many college lectures interrupted by people who are just too rude to not turn their phones off.

What it boils down to is not the technology, but the people who use it.

I love cells. I want a better one, a GSM one though. Love it.

And I'm now addicted to Facebook.

IMO, I think cell phones have become an unnecessary, over convenience. I agree with you its an incredible invention, and its amazing that we are able to contact someone anywhere, at any time. However, I believe us as a society, are starting to over abuse that convenience, and when it comes down to it, it?s not completely necessary! Oh yeah, and it?s ?hand and hand? with Capitalism.

And yes, before anyone says it, I know, Im a hypocrite. I might not over use the convenience of a cell phone. But I sure do with a car and the internet.

But really, I could go into my ?full view? of things that probably would explain more of my opinion, but it?s very bleak to be honest.

I detest cell phones. I wouldn't own one, except someone thought I should, and so I let them pay for it. I'd never spend a penny on one.

stash you are always on that phone!!!

It's nice to have a cell phone, but I rarely use it. I'm lucky if I remember to plug it in to re-charge. I just don't think about it unless I'm on a break and want to give stash or my mom a call. My mom put me on her plan so she could call me anytime she wanted and I could call her whenever the thought strikes me - that way she can bitch and rant and rave about my dad without him even knowing because she'll be out of earshot, hahaha. We don't talk constantly but that was the idea when she put me on the plan. Plus she's not living close to me anymore and she gets lonely - so now she can call me whenever she wants...

I do agree people are too absorbed with their phones - but if it's not one technological thing then it's another. Remember pagers?? Like electronic leashes. I had one, for about 9 months.

The main problem I have isn't so much the cell phones themselves because I think they are a great invention and are very useful, but the people that are so absorbed in their conversations they suddenly lose the capability to, for instance, focus on driving. I admit, I am guilty of this and though I try to abstain from using my phone when I drive, but I do occasionally answer a call so for me to blast those that practice this is very hypocritical of me. Especially since I've seen accidents (my dad bottomed out his car a few years ago while he was on a "very important business call) or been involved in near misses due to people yapping on their phones and not paying attention to what's going down on the road. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. Yet I am guilty of it too.

That said, I desperately want a new phone. Mine is like a brick, there's no flip and one touch of a button and the next thing I know I'm involuntarily sending text messages of skldjfhesikegjhbvxzn to my brother. I'd like a pda, or something of the sort, one with internet access. It's not so much a phone that makes me feel connected, it's the internet. I want one of those cool dealies that open up and there's a keypad right there. Then I'd always be on this fucking messageboard, hahaha.

And I know it sounds geeky or trendy, but that Mac iphone looks pretty damn sweet. I'd love to have one but I'm not committing to a 2 years phone plan.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I love having a cell and can't fathom not having one at this point. I am never at home, people don't like calling me at work, I live and die by the cellphone.

I have a crappy model but a cheap plan and it's honestly one of the best investments I ever made. It's come in handy more times than I can count for quasi-emergency situations, last minute changes in plans, arranging dates, keeping track of numbers, etc.

It is simply an ubiquitous gadget that does nothing but good for me. If I don't like who's calling, I won't pick up.

I LOVE! My cellphone. it's a;most always attached to my hand. Next thing u know its starting to become on with my hand. I have a pink razor , it's pretty sweet , but more importantly is that i can text and call away , and i text and call A LOT. I mean , 2 hours on the phone with Whirky or Mips is normal X-D But i use our landline for that tho , really cheap.

Anyway. I have to stop calling and texting so much because i am now officially broke.

So you need to recharge your mobile daily, ey? X-D Got that razor too, but had to buy a new accu because it's lost it's power to often in the last couple of weeks. It's got an outstanding design that's because i liked it but it's technology is quite messed up. Can't save more than 90 sms and have to delete ones if i want to respond. That's annoying. . . But i still can't get over it that yours is pink, uhhhuhurg X-D
