Well... Not really, if they did anything like him they would've made sound effects of imperial walkers over spankrock's vocals or even better yet replaced everything with crappy dated digital synths (CZ's!!!), but nonetheless, for those who haven't listened to the first disc of Brotherhood (damn EBWs distracting us in neardy bliss) should go turn your stereo up to 11 and listen to Keep My Composure because they tinkered with it quite a but. Wish I had a photo of the expression on my face when I was listening to it on the road and the familiar part of the song suddenly steered off in to that crazy distorted synth part. Drums are better too, really good stuff somewhat reminiscent of the transition between galvanize and burst generator during their live tour. Also, vocals are a little more reserve, which kinda makes a good balance between instrument and vocals ala Do it Again. I definitely am a huge fan of this new version and think I like the song 20 times more, not to say I disliked it before, but more that this version seems to exhaust it's potential for awesomeness. I'm guessing I wont be the only one...

Anyway, what would a forum topic be with out massive speculation? I know this was mentioned in the Brotherhood thread, but figured I'd open a topic to draw attention and to speculate. So yeah, why did they change it? Think Tom & Ed weren't happy with the original? Or maybe they weren't finished but needed to hit a deadline for show/soundtrack Heros? Bowie was luck enough to have fulfilled that deadline decades ago with his contribution to that soundtrack.

I think you are absolutely right - the new version just kicks ass. Again, I wasn't disliking it originally, but now it is something that I want to listen to again and again. It just "skips" along far better than before.

Ha!! I wasn't sure what to make of the thread title but now I understand. ;) I just picked this up very recently and am still entranced by the magically delicious Electronic Battle Weapons. Mmm mm.

It's still all very new. I haven't had enough time to sink my teeth into the whole of Brotherhood yet. If this edit is better than the version that's on Heroes like some of you are saying so far, then I'm sure I'll be pleasantly surprised too.

Could be - Steve's pretty much an honorary Chemical Brother... when he isn't slaving over a hot barbeque making jerk chicken.

So I just noticed something via my iTunes:

Keeping My Composure (feat. Spank Rock) | Heroes OST

Keep My Composure | Brotherhood

So, anyone notice the "ing" chopped off the newer version of the song?

Afrika should've been on Brotherhood instead of this track.

Yeah, ebw 5 will forever be in my heart as the first new song to come out since I became a die-hard fan. ah, the anticipation of getting a rip of it off of bbc via audiogalaxy, summer of '01 for life!

Do you think they kept off salmon dance off brotherhood because that obnoxious aussie ruined the song for tom and ed. Like, "Hey, let's make a greatest hits with everything on it except for salmon." Also, not to mention they played every song live except Salmon and Harpoons (well they had the Snooprah sirens you could argue and they were going to do Battle Scars but Willy Mason had go last minute for KOKO)

I think he didn't mean the B-Sides. he talked about Snooprah because it's based on Harpoons.
