We already talked about that on page 5 and 6 !

Sorry I dont read the forum as much as you. How are people gonna get around this if this is the case?

Well I was chatting with MC Marsh, he was spittin some mad flavas my way. I'm a little worried because he doesn't know what he's talking about, and between you and me, I don't think he actually works in the train business, I think he's really a 13yr old MC from Hackney trying to rob some mans.

I'm catching la train to Kings Cross, from there is a choice left to fate because i'd need to catch the tube to Farringdon. Marsh tells me there is a train just outside kings cross that goes to Farringdon, but he's probably leading me into gangland where he and his bread bins will have their wicked way with me.

So I can leave you to your own devices then iggy? :P

No! :'( I'll end up in Woking again if you do that. Once is enough :P

Just found out my cell phone will NOT work overseas, so I need to make alternative arrangements over the next couple of days. That thoroughly sucks. Oh well.

That stinks!

Well. You can rent a mobile phone at the airport. I saw a couple of places at Heathrow that had them available. I don't know how much money they cost though.

You could also do what stash and I did and that was get a calling card. It's cheap, but it's a pain in the butt because you have to dial a zillion numbers in before you dial who you want to speak with - but we managed. We called home every day.

Another reason to celebrate!

New Year's Day 2006: delayed by a second By Jim Wolf

Sun Dec 25, 1:46 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Get ready for a minute with 61 seconds. Scientists are delaying the start of 2006 by the first "leap second" in seven years, a timing tweak meant to make up for changes in the Earth's rotation.

The adjustment will be carried out by sticking an extra second into atomic clocks worldwide at the stroke of midnight Coordinated Universal Time, the widely adopted international standard, the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology said this week.

"Enjoy New Year's Eve a second longer," the institute said in an explanatory notice. "You can toot your horn an extra second this year."

Coordinated Universal Time coincides with winter time in London. On the U.S. East Coast, the extra second occurs just before 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Atomic clocks at that moment will read 23:59:60 before rolling over to all zeros.

A leap second is added to keep uniform timekeeping within 0.9 second of the Earth's rotational time, which can speed up or slow down because of many factors, including ocean tides. The first leap second was added on June 30, 1972, according to NIST, an arm of the U.S. Commerce Department.

Since 1999 until recently, the two time standards have been in close enough synch to escape any need to add a leap second, NIST said.

Although it is possible to have a negative leap second -- that is, a second deducted from Coordinated Universal Time -- so far all have been add-ons, reflecting the Earth's general slowing trend due to tidal braking.

Deciding when to introduce a leap second is the responsibility of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service, a standards-setting body. Under an international pact, the preference for leap seconds is December 31 or June 30.

Precise time measurements are needed for high-speed communications systems among other modern technologies.

Hm thats intresting. Adding another second. But i dont get it.

Time is something people made. People decided there are 60 seconds in one minute , and 60 minutes in one hour. Offcourse they listened to the earth by doing this , but it's not a thing from the earth if you get my drift.

So , adding an extra second , what is it gonna do ? I mean - the world and the time are to things that stand apart imo . because the world doesn't know that " o it's dark in Africa now , it's must be 1 am "

If i am making any sense here.

I'm definately confused :?

Whats the point in adding 1more second? Is it cause of the way the world moves or something crazy?

Yeah as it says little things can effect the planets rotating speed. If you got all the people in china to run the opposite way the world was rotating it would slow the world down.

The man-made invention of time is precisely why this leap second was added. Man can't manipulate the way the earth spins (not even people in China running counter clock-wise! hehe iggy) so manipulating time is all man can do to keep up with the changes of the earth's behavior on its axis.

I think you'd really dig the Maritime Museum in London. They sure as hell can explain time better than I can. X-D Time is one thing that freaks my mind out if I think too hard about it.

Alright everyone, I'm off to the airport in just a few short hours so this will be my last post from North America. I'll try and hit up the board once in London, but obviously I'm not going to be sitting behind a comp for very long.

I'll be in touch with some of you in just a couple days. :D

I'm excited, but I haven't really started packing yet, so I'd better get busy.

I'll see the rest of you who are coming in 'spoons on Saturday!
