I don't know what's more boring--the album or this debate.

I can't enjoy the album over the sound of everyone talking/posting/tweeting/blogging about it. I'm going to wait until everyone shuts up about it and then give it a solid listen, other people's opinions about music just seem to sour my listening experience of mostly anything and that's definitely the case here. There still are too many opinions flying around about it for me to enjoy it. I feel like I might not be the only one here who thinks this.

This sounds wierd to me. Can't you just blank out those bad influencing factors (not reading, turning off TV, radio etc. to give you some useful tips ;) ) and listen and judge it by youself?

Well, RAM seems not that engaging and substantially interesting enough to me to keep listening to it for a longer period of time. At least I haven't done it for quite some time and thus it's a good indicator for me that it wasn't something really special. Usually, if an album keeps my interest over a longer period of time I feel like I have to go back to some or more tracks over and over. Not so with RAM, though. It has 2 or 3 relevant tracks on it but that's it for me. In contrast, the most recent Sigur Ros album - despite a trillion less marketing fuss - satisfies me on every level and most possibly won't fade that quickly as RAM did.

While this 'debate' continues. Ive actually been going through the Daft Punk DJ mix archives and man there was some killer moments. They were one of those that when they DJed theyd bother to mix and loop together songs to kind of enhance or make a new track out of it in the nothing but pleasure thread.

Not mention finally watching irreversible partly because of Thomas's intense outrage track.
Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.

how this, I agree on, it's too bad that Thomas and Guy-Man don't DJ as often, and it's too bad Thomas isn't releasing any solo tracks, they were killer.

That's really difficult to block out everything nowadays. Plus I check this forum on a daily basis, and make it a point to read every topic. Yeah, it's weird, but that's me. I just prefer to only have my opinions in my head when listening to music for the first time.

I can't remember last time I saw anybody dancing at Grammys, like they did when DP was performing get lucky.
But then again, I saw very few grammys. I was delighted that Paul and ex nirvana got grammy for rock song of the year, especially seeing Krist on stage again.

yeah i havent seen enough to know if thats par for the course. it felt a little contrived but i suppose when one person gets up then that spurs others on to the dancefloor, whoever they are.

its testament to that song that it got people up. it is a great track that nearly everybody loves. the whole stage set and the way the robots turned up behind the screen and the actual version of the track all added up to a good show.

more importantly, the bits of other tracks the robots chucked in was more exciting and got me wondering about live sets. although how some of RAM is going to worked in is beyond me. i worry there will be a RAM section in future live sets as opposed to working the tracks into older stuff, i think i will go to the bar at that point if that happens

I just discovered this 2002 instrumental version of "Lose Yourself To Dance" by that other awesome French duo: Cassius. If there is an acapella of lose yourself to dance floating around I'd like to put it together with this, clearly more funky, version. a quick google on both tracks doesnt give any results so I guess I'm the first one to spot the striking similarity.
Just "inspiration" or another victim of Daft Punk stealing a record and re-releasing it with minor alteration (cola bottle baby being the most obvious one)

on a side note, i saw a fairly new episode of the simpsons the other day where all these hipsters descend on springfield and introduce everyone to loads of "new culture" and at one point a figure dressed in full daft punk gear walks past and utters the classic line "Disco Stu has found something new"
