Has anyone on here seen the Chems whilst on drugs AND whilst totally sober? And how did it compare?
Sorry if we've had this question before.

I've done both. It's fun to do tripping once, but I prefer sober, but I am probably one if the lighter-weight ones here.

I think I've only had one sober chemical brothers experience... The first time I saw them I also rolled (took ecstasy) for the first time, and it was one of the most positive, life changing experiences I have ever had. I love seeing the Brothers regardless, but I do rather enjoy the trip combined with the music and visuals. Their shows are some of the most positive environments I have encountered to take chemical trips.

Wow, me too, first time rolling at a Chems show. My misses and I spent the whole night after that debating whether it was the drugs or the music that made it so good. A night I'll never forget.

I know they would be fantastic sober, but the chance to see them doesn't come often enough to try it so I can't compare. I know I don't need to be high to dance to their music!

They're spending exorbitant amounts of money on a lighting rig and trippy visuals and you need to take a substance that tells your brain you're having a good time?

I've seen them on various planes of the conscious realm. For the most part the experiences were enjoyable, unique, memorable and special. My circumstances now are not conducive to taking drugs, since my husband is in recovery - though my abstinence is my choice. These days my body and mind thank me for being sober at their shows (especially the day after - it is nice not to be in pain, haha) I think I actually prefer the sober trip and find it to be a more freeing experience in a lot of ways. But in general I have always believed there's no 'one and only way' to enjoy the Chems shows, as long as the shows are being enjoyed.

I don't need to, I choose to. There is a difference. And what I take doesn't tell my brain I'm having a good time. It gives me some needed energy and enhances the whole experience. I didn't try E till I was 49, if I enjoy it and choose to take it each time I see a show, then that's my choice. I spent most of my life working and raising children, now I let my hair down every now and then, and it is fun!

Pay no heed to them Krisper. While I don't condone drugs I am pro choice.I don't mind people taking whatever they want, so long as they behave themselves. How come the anti drug brigade aren't so vocal about alcohol? The most damaging drug of all?

Bloke, I mean statistically alcohol is way more harmful than any other drug with the possible exception of tobacco. And even then, tho cigarettes will kill you eventually, they don't cause people to become aggressive, violent, beat up your wife and/or kids, etc etc the way alcohol can and does to certain people. In an ideal world people who can't handle drink or drugs shouldn't indulge. As tragic as any drug related death is, those figures pale into insignificance compared to the millions who both die from alcohol related illnesses and those that suffer at the hands of violent drunks.
Again as with drugs, I'm pro choice with regards alcohol.I drink myself, beer, wine, etc and appreciate the positives there in.

I love the way discussions are coming up and develop here.

I agree with Champi but totally do understand Krisper also.

As to me, I don't do drugs. Music's enough drugs for me plus we have the visuals and lightshow.

I listen to music up to 14 hours a day which is loads considering I work in academic business and teach at university. Guess I get my energy out of it and it keeps me going. I totally understand when academics start alcohol, eventually leading them to alcoholism. However, music is totally sufficient for me. And when I am absolutely high at Chems gigs or when seeing other gigs, then it is due to the music plus lights/visuals if there are any.
love is all.

Obviously drugs are statistically less dangerous because there are...you know a lot more alcohol consumers than drug users !

But that's my point.Yes there are way more drinkers/smokers than drug takers but why aren't they vilified in the same way?

I've seen the chems GIG for 15 or 16 times and ALWAYS sober (not even drinks) and afterwards i felt high as a mofo. So i can't compare an actuall gig high or sober. I know how it feels though to be f*cked on E and the combination must be....amazing. But i always wanted to experience the shows as they are; plus i'm not keen on taking drugs at concerts....if i take drugs (which is occasionaly, usually only on new years eve or one festival a year) i want to enjoy it for the whole night and dance for 6 hours!

I've also seen them DJ a few times and on 2 occassions i had taken xtc. It deffo added something special to the night; but i can safely say that a chemical brothers concert is a rush of it's own.

As for Krisper; nothing wrong with letting go every once in a while man. Amen to that. I know somebody who tried XTC for the first time in his late 50's! He took a bath whilst rushing. Hahahaha.

x
