Here's what we can do. If the guys want to go clubbing, you (Jeanie) Luna and me will find something else to do.

Los Angeles is really spread out. You can't walk from point A to point B and there's no way I'm going to let 2 young cute Dutch girls ride the bus in downtown Los Angeles at night!

I think we should play it by ear.

We'll just do an 18+ club, that's all there is to it.

It might not be our first choice for music, but when it comes to a fair sample of Los Angeles Nightlife, it will be adequate.

Besides, there's certain features of 18+ clubs (namely, 18 year old girls in vinyl miniskirts) that some of our guests will appreciate

Aww, man. It would be good to see you at the fest again but Jim and I are bowing out this year. The Saturday line-up doesn't tickle our fancy and Sunday's although better, is... well, it's on a Sunday so no can do.

I might go, there's this one girl I have this big crush on going and she would be an awesome to spend time with at coachella. pluss i mean it's coachella and I dont think ill have the opportunity to go to alot of them in the future.

I really want to see the coachella documentary movie cause the spend a good while interviewing me about tom and ed and i spoke about coachella in general. That would be fun if i got in the documentary.

If you're ever up in San Fransico or San jose give me a call. Life has just been eating me up lately (in good and bad ways).

:::big bump:::

I know that the next coachella is far away from now, however, I need some questions answered from some of the veterans so that i can figure out a budget.

Question #1

I just looked to find the availability on hotel/motel rooms near the indio area for the last week in april, (next year) and everything seems to be full or steeply overpriced. Should I panic already, or is there better options? And from what youve guys told me, camping sounds like a terrible idea so thats out.

Question #2

When I go to the festival next year I wanna try and get to Vegas. Would you think it would be better (cheaper) to Fly into Vegas and then go to coachella, or Fly into Palm Springs and go to Coachella and then get to Vegas? or does it not really matter?

Question #3

Circus Circus in Vegas, is this place really bad or something, cause i can get a room for $60 a night? (wasnt TUPAC shot there or something?)

:) thats it for now untill i think of something else

Answer Question #3

We had a room for 60 $ a night too in the stratosphere. It was a room with 2 big beds so we spilt it amongst 4 and voila , Las Vegas for 15 $ Each !!

All the hotels are sthe same ; REALLY cheesy and dodgy and HUGE , like all of Las Vegas really. The room will probably be okay , not amazing but good enough. I don't want to spoil youre whole Las Vegas excitement , but it sucks. Only big Casino's and Junkfood. But it's fun for a day though.

DON'T ride the New York Manhattan Express coaster. Mips liked it but i hated it. It looks cool but it's so old and shaky that i got a black out in it.

DO ride the big shot on the stratosphere. At night , facing The Strip. It's this big thing that shoots u up. The feeling you have riding that thing looking over Vegas is Awesome :D

Answer #1: Good idea on not camping. Not only would you not get any sleep or a decent shower, but it is the desert after all and your tent will start cookin as soon as the sun comes up. Coachella's had mild weather the past couple of years but I've been there at the fest when it was 112, and that was at 11:00am. Finding a hotel can be a big bitch. The best thing you can do is reserve a room now or at least 3 months before Coachella. Try to get a place that's in the city of Indio, close to the grounds because you'll have to walk to the venue if you don't have a car (cabs to and from the venue inflate their prices for festival goers). The outlying towns around Indio are too far away unless you have your own transportation. When it comes to reserving rooms, call the motels/hotels every day and check for availability as people are always cancelling and switching their reservations. The thing to keep in mind is that reservation cancellations happen all the time - happened when we bailed out of our reservation for a motel 6 in Palm Springs.

Answer #2: Are you planning on renting a car? Vegas is a long way from Coachella. On a good day with minimal traffic it's a 5 hour drive at least. Fly into Palm Springs and hop a bus or cab to Indio where your hotel will (hopefully) be. After the fest, fly from Palm Springs to Vegas.

Answer #3: If you want to bear witness to drunken whiskey tango parents dragging their pesky screaming dirt children along, then by all means stay at Circus Circus. I highly recommend against that hotel as there are tons and tons of other places to stay. And if someone died at Circus Circus, it wouldn't surprise me - it is Vegas afterall, the mob owns that filthy shithole and there's probably been hits all up and down the strip from the hourly motels to Caesar's Palace. You're best off looking into another hotel (note I said "hotel" not "motel" - avoid motels in Vegas at all costs).

Let me know if you have more questions, Bosco!

well here is what i had planned.....(assumming the festival is the last weekend in april again)

-4/27/07 (last friday in april) fly into palm springs

-take greyhound to indio

-find hotel/motel in indio

-> question #1: what places would be my best bet for cheapest hotel/motel near the festival?

-4/28 and 29/07 go to festival

-after 2nd night of festival, find transportation (greyhound again?), to palm springs which i would have a motel/hotel waiting for me

- 4/30/07 greyhound to Vegas ( i would fly but greyhound is about $30 from palm springs to vegas, cant be beat that!)

-find hotel in vegas, not circus circus :P

-> Question #2:: is this stratosphere hotel located on the strip? and is there any other cheap hotels (on the strip) that I would be able to stay at?

-5/3 or 4/07 leave vegas

note: will not be able to rent car, i was told you have to be 25.

Vegas isnt too female friendly IMO. Unless your a female who really likes gambling, really rich and can spend money on all the expensive shows/spas/shops, or is looking for a quick way to make money, vegas is the place for you. :P but, if your not looking for one of those 3 then Vegas can probably be very boring.

As for the men's view on Vegas...... Booze, Buffets, and BooBs will answer that. X-D

I don't like Vegas, it's overwhelming and filthy, it's a strange vibe that's really thick, like a pungent fog in the air.

It can be a load of fun, though - if you want it. I got married there (no Elvis wedding, thanks) so I do have a somewhat soft spot for the place... but that's just me. :P

And Bosco, it may be about the booze, boobs and buffet... but it depends on where you go for buffet. I can tell from experience the buffet at the MGM is way better than the buffet at Circus Circus! X-D

yeh, i thought vegas was ok for a couple of days, but wouldnt want to spend any longer there though.

actually quite agree with you about it being a blokes thing bosco - i said if i was gonna go back then itd be on a stag do for definite. :P i quite like gambling, so for me it was alright.

but it is just one big trashy fake-noveua-rich pile of tat. good fun though if you take it for what it is.

the stratosphere is right at the top end of the strip - its pretty cool, for us it was dirt cheap so we were happy, but its about a mile and a half right the way down to new york new yor/excalibur which is right at the bottom end of the strip.

if your into poker the venetian is where its at, biggest poker rooms in the world there.

a lot of the casinos are pretty simillar inside, my fave one for roulette was new york new yourk, mostly because i won $200 there though hehe.

walking down the strip at night is wicked, the lights and stuff are pretty amazing. the best coaster was the nascar speeedster at the sahara, went like shit off a shovel hehehe, and the NYNY one was alright, i didnt mind the shakes me ;) pretty neck-twisting stuff though!

you have to go to circus circus to check out the revolving bar a la fear and loathing - good luck trying to find it that complex is fucking MASSIVE X-D

and for posterity heres me in front of it:
