- "Spacefunk" - Headrillaz
- "Perfect for You" - P.M. Dawn
- "Atom Bomb" - Fluke
- "Look Around My Window" - Ambersunshower

Hesher (2010) was decent. I've been looking forward to it because it stars my favourite actor, and it did not disappoint. It's a very depressing film, and has the best analogy/metaphors ever and I can't help but think for some of the emotional scenes he drew on what he went through when his brother died recently. This guy knows how to choose the right script.

Decent biopic! Dragged in the beginning, movie felt kind of rushed in the middle (goose green, miners strike) you can save your money!
YES YES YES! This movie makes up for all the crappy Imax,3D,CGI, crappy movies I've seen for the last 10 years!
Movie making has been taken for granted! This movie restores the faith of real movie making and not succuming to the movie studios pressure of making a 'big movie' with slim booby actresses (not that I have a problem with it), big budget, computer generated worlds or a re-release film that's going 3D!
This film is silent.....but oh so deadly good! See it!

I saw Drive a couple of days ago, and although I heard many good things about it, I wasn't that impressed.
It was a good movie and had many great scenes, for instance the opening, I also liked the chemistry between Gosling's and Mulligan's characters, the reduced dialogues and the hint that there's something broiling beneath their surface without ever saying a word about it.
What I didn't like about the movie where two things: First, the cheesy scenes. When Driver spends the afternoon with Irene and her son at the creek, it immediately reminded me of this ad for an Austrian lemonade: http://www.youtube.c...feature=related
An in the scene where Driver puts on the stuntman mask and walks to Nino's restaurant, the background music was really, really bad and made the scene super cheesy.
The second thing I didn't like about the movie was the level of gore. It's not that I have a problem with blood, but the amount of blood and the splashing sounds reminded me of splatter movies, I couldn't help myself but to chuckle at most of the violent scenes and I couldn't really take them seriously. An exeption was the scene in the stripclub, it was the most violent in the whole movie and there wasn't a drop of blood.
All in all, it was a good movie, but I was expecting more.

Today I took the kids to see The Lorax.
I'll admit we never read the book and I didn't know what to expect. The environmental message is prominent and it is no wonder Fox News conservative types fear it so much. I am proud to have taken the boys and hope as a family we continue to see responsible movies like The Lorax.
On a topical note, the volume was overpowering (and I don't have the sensitive ears of a three year old). Perhaps the theater plays Saturday matinee showings a bit loud to drown out the sounds of children having a good time. It's a shame, because this theater is the same one that couldn't get the sound loud enough for a bunch of young adults on a Wednesday night showing of "Don't Think". Go figure.
