Since everybody seems so shocked about Daft Punk sampling, what would you think about Justice ?

Here are two things they sampled :

DEVO - Jocko Homo (on Stress)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=hRguZr0xCOc

(great track by the way)

Three 6 Mafia - Stay Fly (on TTTHHHEEE PPPAAARRRTTTYYY)

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=z1jn-31bDEY

(Crappy track by the way)

There's also Goblin - Tenebres, on Phantom, and a few more...

Significant samples, yes, but they're still used well. Although, I agree with you in that the Partaaay track is shit. I always hated that track.

But Stress is an awesome track. I'm still all over Waters of Nazareth, too.

I don't think that's anything like what Daft Punk did though. It's a different way of using it, it's sampled, rather than a copy. It's difficult, a fine line when describing it. I really want to find the love for DP again :( that Daft Punk, not Double Penetration.

Stress uses a sample from Night On Disco Mountain - Saturday Night Fever

*EDIT* I see the sample is given credit to some weird classical musician, but the actual sample in the Justice song is from the SNF song (which is actually just a copy of that musician)

When I was talking to Xavier, he said a lot of the albums inspiration was from Pink Floyd's "Ummagumma". I can actually see what he was talking about. Go buy the album. Its the readon I decided to start making music.

The song Genesis is scarily similar to pink floyd's song "Sysyphus (Part 1)". Check it out! Actually, you can find a lot of similarities throughout the albums.

Some of that simply uses the same samples,

they're not sampled one from another...

so are they just playing into the stereotype now of a lazy frenchmen musicians....no offence benj.

Also, that Devo ampled reminded me of their song snowball. I loved that on Jacques Lu Conts' Fabric mix. That and the gusgus 'david' (medicine 8 remix) where he put in that crazy digital bleeping sound that turned into a huge space horn. eargasmic! (though not tom and ed)

From the beginning, I thought that Devo sample was actually from Charly by Prodigy. I thought it was the sample of the cat, chopped and cut.

i love that Newjack/You Make Me Wanna Wiggle one. Justice doesnt over do their samples like Daft Punk does. Release The Beast is waaaaaaaaaayy better than Robot Rock imo
