There's a game available for the PS3 called Flower, and it's brilliant.
It was made by a company called That Game Company who have also made a game for the PS3 called Flow which is a simple yet brilliant and engaging piece of console gaming.
Anyway - Flower is obviously not a violent blood fest of a game, but it's truly a nice piece of eye candy and the overall gameplay is relaxed and enjoyable. The concept of chasing the dreams of flowers seems hokey at first, but it works with this game. The eye candy is remarkable. It's not a photo-realistic game but it is impressive nontheless. Every blade of grass (and there's millions of blades of grass) is crafted individually, and each blade sways in unison with the other blades of grass as the flower petals drift on the wind. My son is a nut for all those shooter games, and the other day he was fully engrossed with Flower and played it from start to finish.
Here's a video below (which do not do the game justice at all, as so much resolution is lost in translation- so to see the best version of this game possible you'll just have to come visit me. :D )

I'm fooling around with GTA4, on PC. It's actually more beautiful than on console (thanks to my ATI HD4850) but I kinda miss my Xbox version, because of the download content released yesterday... But I'm pretty sure it will end up on other versions aswell one day.

Here's a link to That Game Company (that designed Flower).

Their previous game, Flow, is really cool. It's a simple yet engaging game where you start out as these basic aquatic creatures and the more you 'eat' in the game, the more ornate your creature becomes. The music is nice and ambient, very swimmy and relaxed. You can play it a bit on your PC here:

I'm picking up Killzone 2 thursday at midnight. I played the demo, which was only 780p instead of the full resolution (they cut down the texture resolution to save DL space for the demos) and EVEN WITH the inferior textures, people who walked in and saw me playing it thought I was watching a flick. No HUD whatsoever.
Not just my opinion, but every reviewer from Penny-Arcade (the only non-corporate whore site) to IGN says it's the best looking shooter ever on a console, and the only reason it's not the best on ANY platform is that stupid Crysis, which no one owns a computer good enough to run it at max resolution anyway. They don't even make computers yet that can run Crysis with all the settings up.
So, in short,in about 59 hours I will be playing the greatest game ever made by anyone, and it's a PS3 exclusive, because all the weak sauce consoles can't do blu-ray, which is necessary because this is a 50 gigabyte game. w00t!

I just finished Bioshock and I am, indeed, wholly impressed with the game. What I'm most impressed with is that the game demands to be read into with a critical analysis, and there is a lot there, actually.
I would imagine this will be a cornerstone for video game studies in the years to come.

The part with the golf club was probably one of the most powerful video game moments since Aeris died in FF7.
In other news, I got Killzone 2 last night, and it really is the best looking shooter ever made, and the depth of the multiplayer makes CoD4 & 5 look like Pong.

I like it.
It's really fucking hard, the multiplayer at least. I haven't even touched the single player, mainly because you need ungodly amounts of points to unlock the kits and weapons. 350 just to unlock the medic class, and something like 2,800 to unlock the scout... of course the scout can turn completely invisible, so it's probably a good thing.
Oh yeah, and it averages between 5-20 points per game, at least I have and most people I've played with, and a game lasts around 25 minutes... you do the math.
