About to watch Eyes Wide Shut....again.
Dunno why, but I love this movie, like I love most Kubrick films.
Anyone else actually dig this film as a psychological thriller? Or is it really just self-indulgent wankfest tripe and I just happen to want to bone Nicole Kidman?
that's very good one. dark, mystic and yeah quite weird (i a positive way). Did you watch A space odysee?

I'm not watching right now, butlater on we're going to watch The Excorcism of Emily Rose. Demonic possesions are a great way to decompress after spending the past couple of days out of town with the in-laws! ;)
Over the past couple of days we watched Charlie and the Chocolate factory again because nobody else we were with had seen it yet. Then last night we watched the gawd awful Polar Express (again since we saw it in the theater last year). The animation is incredible but there was something cold and dead about the childrens' eyes in the film. It's just downright creepy. And it's too long. But my son loves trains and he loves that movie. Ah. The things we do for our son.
We also watched Ringers: The Lord of the Fan which was a documentary about Lord of the Rings and the fans of Tolkien all the way to the movies through the years. I'm sure it was very interesting but I passed out on the couch before the flick was over.

Well stash went to teh video store to rent the Excorcism of Emily Rose but it wasn't out for rent yet.
He ended up getting High Tension and I wound up falling asleep on the couch about 5 minutes after we put the movie in. I woke up to the sound of screaming in the film coming from a crazy woman slashing some poor guy with a buzz saw before I got myself off the couch and into bed where I belonged.

Finally saw Lost in Translation tonight for the first time. Wasn't sure what I would think of it, but I really, really enjoyed it. I could identify with the characters a great deal and Kevin Shields' soundtrack is brilliant. Plus, my face lit up when they played "The State We're In"! :D

yeh whirly, i read the book first, its wicked. i preferred the book, mainly because it had a proper rustic englishness to it which was kind of lost in the translation to the movie, and also the bit where he goes to buy all those records off that woman whose selling them to spite her husband - superb part of the book, and cut from the movie :( but they have that scene on the DVD extras though, so they kind oif redeem themselves. and its still an enjoyable film.
also about a boy, fever pitch and how to be good were alll pretty cool. (the books i mean)

I am determined I will finish watching 'Mulholland Drive' tonight (again!) after working at it for the past 3 nights. Every night at 2 AM I put the tape in and every night so far I pass out early. Tonight will be the night. Coffee if necessary, vodka if possible. Maybe some Oxycet if I feel like it.... but damn, I need to be up early and productive tomorrow. This is the girl.
And the past two Wednesday afternoons I've made progress on 'Heat' (again!), but had a nap today instead.
