I've been looking so hard on the net trying to find pics of the chem's personal studio at home. I found info on the studio where they do their final mixdowns, but I want to see pics of their own stuff. Anyone have any clue where to see some of this?

Is it just me, or do you notice that the chems hardly EVER talk about their personal lives. I didn't even know Tom had a family and 3 kids for the longest time. The only thing that gave me a clue was his wedding band. Maybe this is why you don't see anything about their personal studio.

Yeah, you'll be hard pressed to find too many intimate details on the lives of Tom and Ed. And that's a good thing.

Ed's a London boy and Tom lives out in the country and has an in-home studio. Mix downs and engineering etc. are done over at miloco studios - but given Tom and Ed are relatively private people you probably won't be finding pics of Tom's studio floating around.

Hell ya! I'd like to know this either.

There are two pics of Tom's private psychedelic room I came across when WATN was being released:

To have a studio out in a cottage somewhere...ahhh a dream....

I remember watching some of the beind the scenes on the goldfrapp DVD of them recoding out in Bath. I think that would be so cool

I like the 2nd pic of toms studio....*drool*

stlightly off studio topic....

I still love it when they were on Huw's show back a few weeks ago arguing about the track that they kept hearing when travelling home form the studio (turned out to be a arab strap song). does anyone have that show recorded? I still loved the ARR and Alive alone remixes, as well as the convo.

That's awesome. Yah, I wanted to see how they had all their synths and what not set up. There are sure a ton of them on the right hand side of the picture. It's cool because it almost looks like a room any one of us could have. It's also hella scary, because I know I've got a good start with my equipment, and I'm not making anything even close to being decent IMHO. Keep on spending time I guess.

Oh yeah... I remember those studio pics with Tom. I think I originally posted the article that went along with them. I just didn't even think at the time "Well okie dokie then, that's Tom's personal home studio."

just wait until they update the good things section, which says they'll add description. I check that every day cause I'm a nerd and I really dig the mechanics of their work, which i think freaked out pooter at the show

An SSL desk and a set of ADAM's. Brilliant. I dont envy whoever wired up the patchbay, but seriously who wouldnt want an SSL. Id be happy with those pre's and comps alone. Would love to read more how he's using it, given the mix position seems a solid chair slide away from where i would imagine the DAW is to the bottom right in the first shot. unless its to the right of the console??

The mention of tie-lines suggests to me the DAW has its own mix control and the SSL is for mixdowns and patching? Flying faders from the DAW position whilst arranging? Curious!

Decided to brighten up those pics and I hadn't even noticed those S3A's before. Plus the sub on the floor - looks like a Sub10 or Sub12. HAHAHA that's like USD$7000 worth of monitors. nice.

You mean that Bursty one? Yeah. Got this as my background wallpaper since it appeared on Nachtagenten. It's just mind blowing and tells something about the burning air! It's that crystal clear, it might happening in my own room looking at it.

Ahhh shit. Realised that it's the wrong topic. Replied to fast (was talking about the tour pic of burst generator).

But yeah, that studio with Tom stretching his arms which looks like he wants to hug all is equipment is ace. Wouldn't it be cool if he would do a little tour through his room, showing how he works, how he's pushing the button(s). Do you think I could book a workshop there?

muahaha - a magician never reveals his secrets!

It would be nifty to be a fly on the wall during a session, just to see the labor of love taking place. I wouldn't want to be around during a blistering argument, though (which you know does happen :P ). But it would be interesting even though none of the stages up to the final press are meant for our ears. All revealed in the finished product.

Guided tour? There's always Cribs.
