I'm still just really starting on the mix. I'm leaving this saturday(7/19) on a 12 day, 67 mile long backpacking trek in New Mexico, so work on the mix will be postponed. I estimate my mix will be 20-30+ minutes. I'll be doing it entirely on a Roland SP 808-EX, and I have a limited amount of data/time to work in.

This is a semi-crude way of doing it, but still a way. Use a vocal remover (Here's an AnalogX version http://www.hitsquad....download.shtml. I've used some of AnalogX's utilities before and they are pretty good for freeware) to remove the vocals in a sample. Then in vert the phase of the resulting sample. Then play both the samples at the same time, and the inverted phase sample should knock out the Non vocal sounds.

Holy crap this is strange... as with a lot of the topics i have something related to (ie bought the chems tribute the day someone posted) try to go to your sound settings and remove the stereo and bass enhancement, right now i am test listening to my set and got it to be only tim's voice on life is sweet, it is so strange only a few things are picked up! then you'd need to hook your mic to your speaker port, it may just be my pc

chem, there is no solution for that truly, unless you search for rare a capellas...
If you can't find any, try noise reduction tools until you get it about right.
I used Audacity and managed to get everything but the vocals out of Junior Parker's TNK.
Good luck.
I will probably start my Chems set this weekend.
My idea for rules:
Outside samples and synths are allowed, but in brief; UNLESS,
there are part of a remix, in which case they can be whatever it is.
Majority of tracks must be originals - be as creative as you want in extending and cross-mixing, though.
Set must be about 1 hour in length and include at least 6 tracks.

He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

Extended versions are okay, as they are still pretty much the track, but most of the tracks used shouldn't be remixes of the track. (remixes, as in, huge change throughout track)

i already use Audacity but that still sounds a little messed up though.
My set will be around 30 minutes and it's not really a set. It's just bunch of remixes mixed togther. I haven't decided on tracklistting but some of the ideas that i have are
TPPR/PFAWF-Blue Monday-STTS-It began in afrika-it doesn't matter-electrobank-block rockin beats
Yesterday when i was remixing STTS i had this creative burst(no really i did) and right now i have so many different ideas of as to what i am gonna do with the tracks. It's gonna be something guys..some of the beats that i made resemble so much to the DYOH era that it's amazing really. This is the best piece of music that i have ever created/mixed/whatever. Yall might not like my style but it's my baby and i absolutley love it. My tracks are nothing like the origianl...they are all remixed but with a chem touch............sorry if i said so much about the set that you guys haven't even heard but what can i say i am excited ;-)

This our first time doing a mix like that and putting up on the net so i think there should be no rules. Do whatever you feel like doing but you have to include Chem tracks. Majority of the tracks mixed should be of the Chems. You can mix other artist if you may feel like. the set could be 5 minutes or an hour that is really up to the dj. that's what i think.
