It was one of those record store moments. You're digging through crates and a song comes on the store stereo, and you're just like "what is this/I have to have this/this is fantastic". Asked Travis (the record store guy) and he told me it was Jagwar Ma's new album. Hadn't heard of them before but what I was hearing was downright danceable, psychedelic 90's electronica meets 60's rock, great stuff. I was lucky. In the rush to get to the store between my classes I had brought all of my cash, only planning to spend $3 - the rest was for pizza orders for the coming weeks. Needless to say, music beat pizza and I got the album.
Jagwar Ma's an Australian band, very new - their first single came out last year, and this album, "Howlin", was released this summer. The album goes from electronic stuff to more psychedelic rock-esque stuff, and covers a bunch of places in between. In not my own words, "I think they're time travellers from Madchester circa 1990". The album was produced by Ewan Pearson (who did a great job remixing The Golden Path), except for tracks 8 & 9, which were done by Steve "Dub" Jones (and if you aren't aware, he's been involved with every Chemical album since Exit Planet Dust).
Enough words, just listen to this:
Cheers.

Rather enjoyed a remix of Come Save Me by Andrew Weatherall that Adam Freeland put into his recent sets over the summer. Love the energy.

More psychedelic Aussies eh?
Under the Man I Need video, a youtube commenter (yes I know, not always a good thing), mentions The Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows (a Tom n' Ed fave of course). I can hear what he means.
There is another Aussie band who are also influenced by that period of the Beatles catalogue, namely Tame Impala. The NME's review of their last album, Lonerism in 2012 HERE goes so far as to suggest that all Tame Impala's songs are influenced by Tomorrow Never Knows. But not in a bad way - as you can see the album got a 9/10 review.
And take a look at the video for the lead single from that album, all done in plasticine by the way. I can't help thinking that the Man I Need vid bares more than a passing resemblance to this.
