I admit I'm not overly familiar with Lissitzky's work, I thought (if memory serves correctly, it's been a long time since my college days) his work was considered "degenerate art" in 1930's Germany, no? Anyway I do know he's used the eyes in the palm of the hand in a few of his pieces, so I see where you're going with the correlation between Lissitzky and the new artwork on the Chems album. But as I said earlier, the theme (eyes in the palm of hands) is not a brand new idea... and it's also not an idea that sprouted up early last century.

I don't think anyone was saying the Reel is referenced on the cover... unless I somehow skipped that post.

Shit Jack... sorry about going all motherly. What I said earlier wasn't necessarily directed at you, but preemptive at the idea the Chems would take heat for the album cover. Judging by your new sig, it seems you've warmed up to it already!

It's cool, whirly, I just thought of Bauhaus and Russian art when i saw the cover. But ur right that the chem's use of 'eye in the hand' could easily have come from somewhere else. It was 'mx' who said the WATN cover IS the private psychedelic reel visuals. I cant see it myself though...

Yeah - whirly, i've quite warmed up to it, and love it. Infact it's got this old pink floyd feel to it - any floyd fans around? Remember the inside sleeves of meddle, n the la valley soundtrack?

I said it once too. Reminds me of that stone heads album (what it's name?).

^^ That would be The Division Bell! What's cool about the Division Bell album is there were different graphics, variations on heads. Shameful me, I have the cd but I lost the cover!

It's been less than 36hrs now - I know cause I checked before going to bed day before night here - the moment that new mailer about the album release date postponed camed, it was affected.

Whirly - not just Meddle those hills, and the whole textures, the gritty feel is somehow very Floyd.

I think mx was referring to the visuals with the blinking eyes the Chemical Brothers use when they play The Private Psychedelic Reel live.
