2$ ? That's a good deal for sure !

I can tell you that the Hercules DJ Console doesn't like vodka-apple. My friend spilled his drink on it on a club. Luckily, I was playing after him and had my gear ready, and he didn't spill anything on my 390€ audio interface

Hey everyone, I hardly ever venture into this thread but I have a friend who could use some help and I told him I'd ask around.

He basically says that Sonar 7 has been kicking his ass and he's been looking around for a tutor forever (he lives out in the boonies in Washington so that's probably part of the problem - but who knows).

Anyway, he says he has a MIDI controller (Akai MPK49, which he loves) but he can't get it to work with Sonar. He can't figure out the drums, has horrible latency issues with his vocal tracks...and he says it's so complicated and could use some help.

Would anyone here have any pointers/tips/tricks you could post that I can relay to my friend please? Any help would be mucho appreciated! :)

more than a few peeps have issues with mpk and sonar it seems. this is kinda technical but might help?

found this info here:

...in case anyone has one of these and can't figure why the transport isn't working even though you've added an MMC surface to Sonar - you need to actually also set the transport to MMC in the keyboard's own internal menu. For whatever reason, mine wasn't set that way by default.

The MPK49 comes with its own Generic Surface preset to allow its knobs and sliders to control Sonar 7's channel strip. When I use this, the knobs control pan and sliders control volume in the channel strip, but nothing I do can get the knobs or sliders to control any VSTi's via ACT.

So, after a lot of trial and error, I realized that I could remove the Akai-recommended preset Generic Surface and just use a straight-ahead ACT surface. Which actually works, even though the Akai manual tells me to do it the other way.

I fried my Boss MetalZone :'( the power supply was in 12V for some reason (probably changed it with my foot, not on purpose...) and both the psu and pedal are dead.

FAO Biff (or anyone actually) : could you identify the 2 pedals on this very old pic of Daft Punk ?

This guy has the best job in the world. He gets to touch great and rare synths, AND he gets to meet the Chemical Brothers

Simple sinewave synthesizer triggered by an ordinary 16step sequencer. Each triggered step causes a force on the underlaying wave-map, which makes it more cute.

@Pumisher: wow! Great find. I love that idea that you are able to make a melody and a beat online.

Some sort of flash-future? The matrix-generator is nice too. And of course, a tb303 bass vsti is ace! The guy who did this knows the business

@Benji: gorgeous, that's fantastic. Would you post pics of it when you got it? Hope it's fully working and you'll have shit load of fun with little monster.

The bastard sold it 1 day before we were supposed to get the MS-10. But my friend got a Future Retro Revolution instead. Very nice toy, crazy sounds, and the remix feature is just insane, Tom was right :)

I want one now...

@ anyone

Has anyone tried or know somebody that's used Traktor Sctrach Duo or Serato Scratch Live?

In your opinion, whats the better choice?

So, I'm actually going to be venturing out, spending a little bit of money, and buying some DJing software/equipment.

My problem? I have very little clue as to where to start. I'm just wanting to get myself some equipment and software to be able to DJ at some local bars/clubs here in SF.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

Well first we have to know somethings :

- do you have any experience ?

- what experience ?

- do you have money ?

- how much money ?

I have no experience DJing, but I've got a very good sense at what I want to do with from mixes I've made over the last five or six years.

And I have a few thousand dollars at my disposal.
