Save, save, save, save, save, save, save...... *locks wallet away, not to be seen again until December* :D Seriously, that would make my year complete. Wonder how much a week over in London would cost me....

toomuch'stash and I went through money like water when we went to London last. We left going for broke, that's for sure! We did get a nice deal on our travel package from priceline.com - direct flights to and fro, and a swanky hotel in a nice part of town to boot. We could've even gone a bit cheaper but it was our anniversary, so we splurged a little.

London is outrageously expensive, especially since the US dollar isn't worth anything these days. You being Canadian will probably get a better exchange rate I imagine since your dollar is worth more.

Anyway. You can get decently priced travel packages for New Years but only if you do it *now*. If you sit on this and draw it out a few months, you'll end up paying up to triple the cost you normally would most other times of the year.

The food is what'll get you. Oh, and the beer.... mmmm.... beer. You'll be doing so much walking around discovering the city, you'll have to eat to keep your strength up (especially crossing those streets, those cabbies don't stop for anyone! ;) ) And you know you won't be able to resist the warm allure of every pub you walk past, hehe. An example, for the 2 of us to eat modestly at Burger King cost us close to $18. Croissant and coffee for my breakfast at the corner bakery by the hotel was about 5 pound 50 - close to $10 US. We ate on the cheap the whole time we were there, staking out pubs that had fish n'chips deals. Mmmmm... fish n'chips.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a friggen travel agent here. :-// But hey, if you can at least book a flight and lodging, do it!! By all means, it's a fantastic opportunity and it would be so cool and I would be so happy for you. Once you have it all booked it'll be much easier to hide your wallet til it's time to go!

No Whirly you are absolutely right...i stayed in London for all togheter two months last year , and i never spend so much money as i did than...honestly , in 3 weeks i already spend about 2000 euro's...but speaking of expensive city's , check out the price of fruit i wrote down yesterday in the grocerystore.

1 Big good apple ; 9 dollar 50

1 Peach ; 13 dollars

1 Package of grapes ; 21 dollars en here comes the best one...

1 watermellon , 35 dollars!

I know it's hard to believe so if u think i have a big fantasy i'll post the picture's i made of it :p

Anyway this is so offtopic! Haha

Good gawd, Jeanie you poor thing. I would double over and cry if I had to pay $9.50 for an apple. Seriously...

It's not surprising though, Japan's always been ludicrous when it comes to how much things cost.

Hey, I was wondering something. I know it sounds weird, but hey, it is weird! Have you seen any square watermelons in Japan? It's genius how they're engineered to fit into the small, cramped fridges. I probably wouldn't be able to stop laughing if I saw one in person - they're so cool!
