Guess who won this then......
Basement Jaxx?
No.
Groove Armada?
No.
The chems?
No.
It was the sugababes
Is it just me or is there too many people who are getting mixed up between dance (that's spelt D-A-N-C-E) and pop (P-O-P). What is wrong with the UK? Why do people seem to think that manufactured pop can also be called dance music (apologies to everyone here who think that boundaries in music aren't important) First Kylie at the MTV Europe Awards now Sugababes at the brits. I thought it was bad with Basement Jaxx but this is just taking the piss.
In fact, I think the whole 'ceremony' was just a big anti-climax. Just your usual "Lets kiss Robbie Williams'/Will Young's/Kylie's ass" awards evening......

I normally stand for no boundaries between music genres, however I must agree with you. To me, modern pop is music that is stripped down, has stupid lyrics, boring overused sounds/beats, etc. Dance music usually has a similar base, but it isn't shit like modern pop and its meant to be danced to, not listened to (usually). Who the hell wants to listen to popstars whine over cheesy music!? not me!

WTF ? People need to distinguish between Dance and Pop. Not all Pop is bad and not all Dance is good but shit nobody but the sugababes...what is wrong with people (or is it just me). I use to like some Pop but now everytime i hear some say on MTV'Oh that's a good song' i go 'No fuckin way'.
Here is a quote from Tom on Brit Pop which i think is perfect for our discussion : "Yuk!No fucking way, you gotta have holes in your brain to play Brit Pop"

Avril Lavigne's sk8r boy has terrible lyrics (IMO) but some of her songs are great, I'll admit. Lots of people 'round here do not like Avril.
