The hills are open here! Went skiing for the first time this season. Any other skiers or snowboarders out there?

So I want to know what kind of music you listen to while on the slopes. I've got 1 playlist right now, but I'd like to get some really good epic music for skiing! Also for other sports too. What kind of music do you listen to for what sport?

Here's my skiing playlist right now.

The Sunshine Underground

Studio K

We Are The Night

A Modern Midnight Conversation

Vanishing Point - New Order

Loops Of Fury

Prime Audio Soup - MBM

Leave Home (Just cause it reminds me of SSX3)

Bang On - Propellerheads

Ya Mama - Fatboy

Right Here Right Now - Fatboy

Climbatize - Prodigy

Sunset - Fatboy

Elektrobank

Denmark

One More Time - Daft punk

Star Guitar

I'm not the sporty type at all, but I walked a half marathon a couple of years ago. I forgot to make a set list so I just put the music on shuffle. I used to have bits of Bill Hicks on my iPod so when it shuffled over to snippets of Bill, that created a somewhat interesting dynamic to the whole "I'm walking so much I feel like I might keel over" scenario. But other than that, I listened to an array of tunes. Most memorable moments were The Sunshine Underground as I was settling into my stride sometime about 2 miles in, with the fresh golden light burning off the early morning haze coming off the ocean. Surface to Air was good, too - that came on around the 8 mile mark, when my legs started to feel like jelly but the finish line was within reach so I kept on. My iPod ran out of juice about a quarter mile to the end, but the last song of the trek was galvanize and that was a pretty damn good song to be the last song of my walk.

Notable bands listened tothat weren't the Chems were Underworld (Rez Cowgirl) and Kraftwerk (Minimum Maximum, Autobahn especially) and U2/Johnny Cash 'The Wanderer'... Something about hearing The Wanderer " I went out walking' under an atomic sky..." just seemed so right at the time.

Looking back I was dreadfully unprepared for the marathon and was in a significant amount of discomfort afterward, haha.

Very impressive Whirls! Didn't know you did a marathon, and it's good to be in shape and get that type of energy. Do you still do it?

I run about the same on the weekends cause of all the crap I eat on the weekdays. But usually listen to the Chems or Fatboy sets when im sweating. I usually listen to surface to air (should be on your Ipod Prochem since your boarding) or star guitar when i'm on the last mile or two.

a lot of Johnny Cash, Doors, U2, 80's bands.

I did the Surf City marathon (in Huntington Beach) - it was massive, there were so many people and there were some pretty awesome athletes. My supervisor from my work encouraged me to walk with her so I had a month to try and build up my speed and tolerance. I'm glad I did - sometimes you have to just try things once, even if just to say "yeah, did that!" I don't like working out, I despise treadmills and I am not athletic at all. I can do a light jog for short distances, but I'm certainly no runner by any stretch - so walking it is. Last summer I walked 4-5 miles every evening, but I stopped as the days got shorter. I don't worry about getting hassled but I do worry about getting run over at the crosswalks because people around here are in a rush and they don't/won't see you when you're crossing the street. Unfortunately I didn't get back into walking this past summer - I was so unmotivated and so beat - although I should have because it was a good way to maintain myself physically, I tend to smoke way less (I am like a walking chimney)when I include physical activity in my daily routine, and doing something that makes you sweat really does wonders to clear the mind. I'd like to do another marathon some day but want to be more prepared this time than I was for the Surf City marathon. I had no idea walking would be so painful! My fingers swelled up like tiny balloons and my legs felt like bags of sand. Just dead weight. I could barely move from all the lactic acid buildup. Living up 4 flights of stairs didn't help matters. After the marathon it took me 15 minutes just to get up those goddman stairs. I literally had to use my arms to lift my legs. Thank god nobody saw me struggling up the stairs because I must've looked like a moron.

Oh, there's skiing in California--plenty of mountains, actually. Mammoth and Lake Tahoe are huge destinations for skiers, and there are resorts scattered throughout the state.

That's part of what makes California a desired place--it has both surfing and skiing centrally located. :)

It's quite chilly by S. California standards and even the low lying mountains near me have snow on them. Not good for skiing, though, but pretty to look at. There's also Big Bear Mountain which is 2 - 2 1/2 hours away from me which is a ski destination. It's nice knowing you can go skiing if you get an early start, then be at the beach in time for sunset. :)

I went skiing once, in Lake Tahoe, many moons ago. My brother and his wife (then girlfriend) got a cute little gingerbread house looking cabin. I was just thinking about that weekend excursion today actually. It's so beautiful up there in Tahoe.

To my surprise I caught on fairly well to skiing. But then I got cocky and decided to try a more advanced slope. Somehow, I got seperated from my brother and veered off onto another path which I later found out was a black diamond run. I spent half the time eating snow on my way down the mountain, and finally I gave up, popped off my skis and walked the rest of the way down. Then promptly located my brother and his wife and got them to order me all the Bailey's and coffee I could drink (I was 18 at the time).

Other than the bad shin splints and embarrassing spills down that treacherous run, I had a blast that weekend!
