Go casio phase distortion, woot. I won a casio vz-10m on ebay last week that just got here a few hours ago. That thing is positively mad, but programming it looks intimidating as hell. nice score with the CZ-5000, biff, CZ range is pretty awesome in its own right.

Benj- if you're considering getting novation gear, look into a nova. I picked up mine for $250 and the thought of selling it has never crossed my mind. The A-station is okay, but monotimbral whereas the nova is 6 parts multitimbral with 16 voices if you have the latest OS. Also the A-station has two filter types whereas the nova has 20-something. The mod matrix is also definitely a plus, and the vocoder is higher res too, i think.

at least the CZs aren't as bad as the DX. But anything looks intimidating if it's not all laid out in front like a Juno or SH-101. BassStation, I am 85% sure, is Novation's only genuine analog synth, so I guess in deciding that'd be an incentive to get one of an A-station. Never tried a Nova, but heard nothing but love for it.

The BassStation, imo is not a good choice, among the other analogs in that price range. I'd go with an MAM 303 clone or an MFB of some kind. You might also be able to get a desktop evolver for not much more. (I might even rather have an EA-1). I've heard from people all over vintagesynth forums that its bass is actually kinda weak, though it's a pretty good lead synth. And yeah, the BassStation range are the only true analog novation products. The analog modeling on the nova is pretty much amazing, though. So flexible and powerful that I might daresay it's better than the real thing, especially at less than $300.

Anyone else here use VSE forums or their synth database?

The thing is I use the BassStation VST a lot, so I'd like to make that a real BassStation. It seems logical since I don't really like using VSTis anymore. The only ones I use are Korg Legacy, Novation Bassstation (make it a real Bassstation), V-Station (make it an A-Station) and ReFX Vanguard

I really miss my BassStation. I got that for cheap as fuck, $150, almost as good as my cz-5000, but last year when I transfered to the college I am at, I had to sell my juno-106, nord lead, and BassStation to buy food. Luckily I have a decent paying job and have more synths right now than I've had in ages. Think if I were to get a bassstation again, I might go for the super model, has those subosc and a few other thing. I am eyeing a synth right now on ebay that I've wanted to get for a year now and rarely shows up. wish me luck, the sale ends after payday..

spectral audio neptune II. real analog! I've always wanted one of their synths. Someone a year ago was selling a bunch of them, but I had just bough a SH-101 so I didn't have the money.

I'm looking for a MIDI patchbay software (for Windows), that could permit me to patch my 8 midi in/out how I like (redirecting this MIDI IN to that MIDI OUT, merge that with that, etc) and have only a few in and out to use in Ableton.

Anybody has that ?

Funny... I plugged the Midi out of the Juno to the In of my BCR2000, and when I move a slider on the Juno, the "in" light of the BCR lights on, but strangely, no signal is being received in Ableton. Only the keys and the pitch/mod stick

If I don't get my microkorg today after finishing finals, I am going to flip the fuck...

also, ben_j you might want to try running the juno midi into the THRU midi port if there is one on the BCR. If you are, then you many want to check the juno manual for better info on the midi data so you can figure out the numbers (ie. C10 or C74) for the sliders and make sure abelton is measuring them. I don't know much on the BCR, so my knowledge is limited to this speculation.

Apparently, the Juno sends sysex data. The BCR is dumb, so if there's data, whatever type it is, it will transmit it, and the led will blink :)

Biff do you have any idea for the Midi patchbay software ?

Nice one Pumisher!!!! That video answered my long awaited question of where did that opening sound from WATN come from, and there it is, Tom making the noise. Remix always has my favorite interviews because they're technical and not the same questions about the salmon dance or what ever.

Got my Neptune today after a long mix up and it is fuckin amazing!!! way happier with it than the sh-101, bassstation and so on, best bass ever. Kinda like a minimoog, with 3 VCOs and it has sexy filters and converts midi to cv like a bassstation. Each VCO can be tuned so it's a bit like a monopoly with one less voice, until I run another 2VCO+ synth through the filter. Amazing true analog and has turned my speakers into wind tunnels. Also switching out my micromodular for a regular version, woohoo!

copy n paste job here guys :D.....

ok guys i left pestering you guys with this question as a last resort, but here goes...

I currently use Reason 4.0 as my software with my keyboard "edirol PCR-M50". Now i have set up my midi and the keys all work etc... it just seems that my knobs and sliders arn't all assigned properly.

So what i was wondering is how i assign all the knobs and sliders within reason? because it seems the preset "PCR-M series" for midis within reason hasn't done it properly. But then again it could be just me

cheers,

Jittem

(sorry Csar :D)
