hey, in 2006 & 2007 i started collecting news/thoughts/interviews about the chems. On the ftp i created a map with a word document; it would be great if you guys could update it, would be cool if you add some more interviews and thoughts about the chems (maybe when the new forum comes ''this'' is all lost?)

thanks

Dennis

A'ight y'all, I get that you are pulling the old school trader nonsense of being all hyper-protective of your cache. But I can say that if you let me in, I might be able to help. But then again, I don't know what you do and don't have, seeing as I can't currently get into the FTP. I can say that I have a lot of stuff from '99, '97, and '95, and very little from after that. What's it going to take, people?

it's not that we're overprotective of the gigs we've got but promo releases,et c have been loosed from it in the past all across the interweb. it was a public-access server before. But you sound noble enough. I don't feel I have authority to give out the user/pass, but I do consider you guys alright :P

I pm'ed him the info. the whole point of the ftp private is to PUT A LIMIT on the circulation of the music so that it is not massivly exploited amongst people other than the loyal forum users who are going to go out and buy the albums, singles, and see the live shows. Second, most this stuff can be found elsewere, try soulseek, pretty sure there's nothing special about the ftp that is not on soulseek.

I know a lot of hit-n-runners go to this page after registering and are like "Sweet forum dudes, mind giving me the password?" and then if you get it we'll never see you again... If you really are serious then stick around, engage in discussion, it's a great forum and fun as hell. if you've been around a while but haven't posted in recent times, odds are that you didn't get ftp info because when it was sent out you were assumed dead. I don't really consider it elitists by any means, just for people who like I said are definitly going to go out and buy the music.

I guess the metaphor I though of after the post is imagine it being like ever post counts as a date and the ftp is sex...

You don't go out on the first date and be like "sweet body, mind giving me some?"

So after a few dates (or engaging post) over a period of time, you get some from there on out....

we all have heard of people who give it away the first date and never getting called back.

In other words we don't want the forum getting duped

i received tons of private messages on this subject. The problem is that more and more people have access to the FTP, and everybody is trying to connect at the same time. The server is hosted on my personal computer, with a simple DSL connection. So I can't do anything to fix the connection problems...

Do you limit the number of users that can simultanously connect tou your server ?

no, because everyone is using the same user. Some people are downloading several files at the same time, which creates a new connection for each file... all my DSL upload bandwidth is taken by the FTP.
