Nice and easy going, perfect!

Don't be scared of the heat. It's scarey only when you are unprepared like we were when my friend passed out.

stash and I take it easy all day at Coachella. We don't over exert ourselves - we're downright boring til the sun goes down! We're old and slow plus I like to just chill out and take in the sight and sound.

As long as you have good sun block and plenty of water you'll be fine.

How quickly are the tickets likely to go? Will probably book beginning of next week.

As far as ticket for the event go, plan on $100 per day. They also offer a 2 day pass that's slightly cheaper than $200 but I don't know for sure because I've never gone both days. The price for tickets goes up every year.

I'm pretty sure it's around 60,000 person capacity. I have only seen tix sell out once and that was actually one of the years I didn't go. They sold out about a week or 2 before the event.

Depeche Mode has a lot of fans who are just as fanatical about travelling to see their favorite band as some of you are about the Chems. ;) My suggestion is to get your ticket early as you can because you never know - there's a first for everything as far as selling out goes.

As for food and water at the event. Prepare to pay jacked up prices. The food is decent enough and there's plenty of fare to suit the healthier types and vegetarians. About $9 on average for a meal that should really cost about $5 but for you lucky foreigners this is inexpensive for you because of the exchange rates. ;) You can't bring any food or water into the venue. Water if I remember correctly is about $4 a bottle but there are taps where you can refill and save a few bucks.

Cheapest flights from London to Palm Springs are 500, from Manchester it's 800. I need a new car and may be going back to uni this year, so I really don't know if I can afford this now. :(

I will continue trying to get a room closer to the venue, last year I was able to get one after someone else had cancled.

and the room will only be for the first 2 nights.... I'm too old to do 2 days of festival in a row anymore.

and of course, absolutely everyone is welcome to crash on my floor either before or afterwards... I'll get some air mattresses if I have to.

Yay mippio and your friend Glyn! I can't wait to meet the 2 of you!

Tyler... if you can manage to make it out that would be splendid! I know it's really expensive... I totally understand. But if you made it out it to California without managing to dig a deep financial hole that would be so dope!

You all should fly in together. The Coachella Party Plane!!

Marsh?!?! Fuckin' A!!!! Awesome, dude!

The heat is rough, but fun so long as all necessary preparations are made.

Cost of food at the venue is irrelevant, since food will not be consumed. :D (I ate on the Saturday, don't think I ate Sunday at all, if I recall correctly. Just drank water. And more water. And more water.)

Last year it was $160 USD for both days tickets. Expect around the same.

Water was $2 USD for a 500 ml bottle. I spent $50 USD on water over the two days. And it was a mild Coachella weekend, weatherwise. :D

On the plus side, if it's hot, there will be many more topless girls. X-D (Bosco, this one's for you...... X-D )

Of course, as with all big festivals, expect the organizers to have mentally probed you to find out which bands you most want to see and to then schedule them all on stage at the same time. }:-@ :D

(And let's put it this way: I spent more on cover, drinks, and drugs clubbing 3 nights in London than I did for the same during last year's Coachella weekend. Or around the same, anyways.)

Oh, and last year I got my tickets in early April, if I recall correctly. They won't sell out for a bit yet, but best to make your preparations sooner rather than later.

The one thing that WILL cost three arms and two legs at Coachella is alcohol.

I hear this year they've totally redone the booze scheme: they've renamed the $7 beer now "$8 beer". hehe. :D D'oh! :(

Plus booze will dehydrate you in the desert. Water during the day and water and drugs at night are the way to go, if you intend on getting a little messy, if you ask me. Or water and booze and a platinum credit card. :D

Pre-Coachella hotel party on Friday night sounds good though. Hopefully without a visit from the authorities this year. X-D

Oh, and it gets kinda cold at night. You wouldn't believe how cold 20 Celsius feels after a day in the mid-to-high 30s.

I hear Indio isn't too far from The Joshua Tree Park, I was trying to find a map of California with Indio on it but it was like getting blood from a stone...

...I shouldn't really be thinking about it in this detail yet, haven't got all the time off work I need yet!!

Or, perhaps more usefully......

Indio is on Interstate highway 10, just east of Palm Springs.

oh, we can totally do Joshua Tree

and don't worry about the tickets selling out, despite what whirly said, I don't believe they've EVER sold out. The venue has room for like 100,000
