Nice Chops! do you currently have new chemical mixes in the pipeline? I really enjoyed your previous work!

I started a band a few months ago and we've recorded a few songs. I hope you guys like it! It is a bit poppy but also distinctly electronic because I make the beats/play the keys :P The idea was to blend Electronic beats with blues melodies and lyrics.

we have a soundcloud page and these are the tracks that I would like to highlight:

Satisfied: a very danceable 8 minute jam. we use this to close our set.

https://soundcloud.com/banaan/satisfied

Laying tracks: our most finished and radio friendly track.
http://soundcloud.com/banaan/laying-tracks

Your Summer Groove: this is what I made today. a first attempt at reggae/moombah. I'm really curious what the other band members come up with to complement this :P Beware: It changes from 90 to 160 bpm halfway because I couldn't decide whether this should be a slow jam or a fast bubbling like track.

Nice work, cool stuff.

The tempo change in Your Summer Groove works, but if this is not considered a finished track, you might consider splitting it into Parts 1 & 2.

The rest of the MDB tracks are also enjoyable. Rue Des Talus v2 is smooth; I like the female vocals in it, which are also awesome in Laying Tracks. Mary Jane has a nice groove, although I'm biased...in love with Mary Jane and all...

Oh, and the fuller sound on Satisfied (extended) is awesome. I'm sure the one you highlighted is more collaborative, but I dig the raw beats on this one.

Gonna work it out...

in answer to your question, i dont know if i will ever do another chemical mix. i dont know what sort of theme i could use and i have used a lot of tracks already. I wouldnt know what kind of thing i could do for a third one. I might do some other bands though or just a comp of different stuff. i really enjoyed doing the two mixes and am very proud of them but i just dont know if i could pull a third one off

as for your tunes, i really liked them. the short track has definite charm and a good melody.

i would like it if the last track you posted should be fast at first maybe after a slow intro, a dub breakdown and then go mental again . good sounds though. lets hear more.

This one is one of my personal favorites!

This track has had me bumping and rapping to this for like an hour! I'm literally making a rap about being in the creative commons and remixing/sampling whatever we want to for fun, not for money, to this song. And I don't write raps!

Seriously, I've kind of been musically paralyzed for a while because I've been so focused on "oh that sounds too much like a preset, oh that beat isn't original enough" and not just having fun and taking my self less seriously. In that spirit here's something nuts I made almost a year ago that I was saving for something:

https://soundcloud.com/moontan-nocturnal/leviathan-wakes-full-august

It's 16 minutes and completely weird so you'd better have a lot of patience to listen to it. Parts of the song use the same note pattern as a live improv in a Chems set, namely the bit before The Reel in the 2002 Open Air Field set. Made it in spare moments at school as a part of a plan to write a song every month that... pretty much began and ended with this song. I wrote a second track to segue out of the end of this, but it sucks hard, I need to make it better.

You managed to create an excellent atmosphere with this track, man. There was a very nice, slow buildup of the synth lines, which sound pretty fuckin' cool by the way, and the beat fits really well with the flow and is dropped in at the right moment.

The only thing I'll say is that where the track goes through the "shift," it's nice to have that change-up and it gives the track a bit more to it than just the repetition of the synth lines with a beat. I might work with that change up a bit more and see if you can't bring back in those original synth lines and end it like you started--might give it more of a "completed" feel at the end. Right now it feels like it leaves you hanging.

*Great* work.

Thanks for the support guys, ive been posting my stuff in the "laidback luke forum", but most of the ppl there only produce the same electrohouse stuff over and over, and I got bored of it.

Sound design for a short film called narcotomia. The story is about someone who gets deprived of sleep.
