So, which action to take unless technical actions are being taken? I agree that this (technical features) might not be that easy, so why not finally "promoting" 3 or 4 or 5 of us, trustworty members that are online quite often/regularly, ideally coming from all over the globe to be here when others are asleep - a bigger number of mods, also available when others are sick or on holiday or do not have internet access or whatever. Is that so very difficult?

Someone higher up on the ladder gets to grant Mod powers:

A couple weeks ago when contacting the other mod, I brought up the possibility of adding another moderator to our ranks, but the final word on that is out of our hands...

So even though it's a good idea, it's probably not going to happen. You know EMI.

edit: Mod to the rescue! Let's hope something gets done about it, and not forgotten like the Further Bonus Content...

Just an update on this issue. I have forwarded the issues we are having to the Tech's of the forum and they did come on this week to read your threads and see what the suggestions were. Right now though we are looking to change the account verification process so that I will have to either approve or deny each new application rather than having the "member" aka "spammer" being able to activate their account. This would mean that no new accounts could post.

As for older accounts I am slowly working to delete those accounts but with this software it's a slow and tedious process and will take some time.

I ask that you continue to have patience and to keep reporting the spam as it appears.

Thank you so much - I am hoping this gets worked out soon and appreciate the time and effort you're going through with getting rid of those crappy spammer accounts!

That's a bad idea. How do you judge trustworthiness? One forum member being a mod is enough, any more than that then I fear forum posts and threads could be edited to a certain personal judgement. I've seen it before, people go power crazy.

Don't think so. I can't see Whirly being power crazy and pretty much there are some more here that wouldn't go. Plus: it's not much power, isn't it? Deleting spam threads. It's not about ruling the forum.

I'm not talking about Whirly. It's not much power in real terms no, but in terms of Internet respect-o-meter, MOD status is as high as you can get on a forum. You're VIP, with your own security team and groupies bent over, ready for you when you need and want. It can change a person, and when their MOD status gets revoked, they hit bottom hard and fast.

I was a MOD once, on a forum many moons ago. I lasted one day. It didn't take long for them to realise it was a terrible mistake.

Thank you for your hard work mod.

I wonder what the new verification to activate an account will be. Maybe jumping through hoops of fire over a hungry tiger starved for days while you are covered in animal blood. Now that'll be exciting.
But then how can we see that in a virtual world. hmmmmmmm...

If I could make a small suggestion...
What if we could report a thread right from the main board? That way we could do several in a short period of time and not have to go into a potentially NSFW thread.

I would be all for that functionality. I have the ability to delete threads right off the front page without having to click into the thread.

But the NSFW issue is one that is of concern to me as well - I log on here during my lunch breaks at work, on my work computer, and delete spam. My work is very generous to let me use my work computer for leisure when I'm on break but I'd be mortified if the CEO or my boss walked past and saw NSFW stuff on my computer. Or worse, if I accidentally click on a potentially dangerous link that's in one of these threads. I know I'm not alone here in saying I would lose my job if I knowingly or unknowingly installed malware on my computer.

I think if you see a thread that could possibly be a NSFW thread, please don't feel obligated to click on it and take that risk just to report a problem. If the thread isn't reported, that's fine - me or the other mod will take care of it as soon as we can.

Something I've been campaigning for a long time now. On a couple of other forums I was on, we had a secret naughty section
