Astralwerks latest communication
Last week we announced the exciting new details of the triumphant return of what is unquestionably the most exciting Chemical Brothers record to date - 'Push The Button.' We have all been locked away in our offices all week here at Astralwerks HQ, blasting the new songs while still attempting to do our jobs... unfortunately some of us didn't get much work done.
The first single from Tom and Ed's fifth studio album is "Galvanize," a full-blooded, pulsing rhythmic hip-hop hybrid anthem, featuring the vocal talents of the legendary Q-tip. From its pounding bass to its classic unpredictable breakdown, "Galvanize" is The Chemical Brothers at their prime. The b-side, not to be outdone, is the infamous 7th installment of their celebrated (and VERY rare) Electronic Battle Weapon series. Electronic Battle Weapon #7 aka "Acid Children" is a mind-bending fist-pumper that is devastating dancefloors the world over due to the extremely limited servicing to VIP DJs this past summer. Look for the 12" and CD of "Galvanize" available in stores everywhere January 18th, 2005. If you can't wait that long, "Galvanize" will be exclusively released online November 23rd. Yes, we have a digital posse.
Stay tuned for more details on how you can be among the first around the globe to hear the brand new Chemical Brothers! Details to be announced soon on the very special (and lucky) guest vocalists appearing on 'Push The Button.'
'Push the Button' will change the way you listen to music on January 25th! Can a band that has consistently reinvented music and challenged perceptions while reaching the masses deliver yet again? The answer is a resounding yes!

there might be promo copies around by nov. 23rd??? you know, to download a song has no soul.
i mean: you receive a parcel... the postman rings and you know MAN THAT'S THE TUNE and your fingers are getting wet (or your panties X-D ) and you open the parcel, quickly and carefully, hold the vinyl in your hand, feel the vinyl... and then you put in on your turntable and put it on... man... that's the way i want to hear new chemical brothers stuff... and not as a download }:-@

I totally understand what you're saying, Golden Eyes. I really do. I work in a record store! You prefer mail ordering your vinyl, I prefer the whole retail experience of buying a record from walking into a shop to unwrapping the cd before I get back into my car to go home - and believe me I wish everybody felt this way. I do think digi downloading has taken a lot of soul away from the whole package, and it's been hard trying to accept that digi downloading is here to stay and is the way of the future. I will always like having the real deal in my hand, looking over the sleeve and liner notes, physically putting the music in my stereo. There's something real and solid, something tangible about music that can't be recreated in a digital format - I'm with you on that.
But I also really really want to hear this song. I don't see what's wrong with downloading the song - if anything it'll be a first for me, I've never bought an mp3 online before so it might as well be a new Chems single! I think it's safe to say all of us who are planning on going the soul-less route of downloading Galvanise will be flipping the real deal over and over in our hands come January 18!!

thing is it makes perfect sense to release it early on mp3. everything over the last few years has been released early on mp3, shame its all been unofficially on soulseek etc. i think it one of those rare times where record companies actually do something contructive about the problem of file sharing. i wonder how many of you who say you wont be buying the mp3 have previously illegally downloaded a chems track pre-release?? i know i have, and i have always justified it (rightly or wrongly) by buying the genuine artical on release. now i have the chance to get a good quality legitimatly. everyones a winner

i have not! when HBHG came out and IBIA i heard them first when i bought the single cds as i didn't get promo copies. nah, i've seen the HBHG video before on VIVA2 but as there wasn't an afrika video... i am into waiting cos i don't need the feeling of "man i was the first to hear it" as the first ones to are the people that work on it. what is so bad when you hear a tune the day it officially is released???
btw, whirly, i prefer record shops. but imagine the place i live... X-D :'(

i started buying mp3 about 6 months back. cos i like to mix on cds i can't hardly get any house music on cd. so i was transfering vinyl to cd, which is very backwards thing to do. there are quite alot of mp3 shops now that do my kinda music. they normally get the tunes before the record shops too!! they are normally a fraction of the price, i don't have to buy any remixes i dont want. i dont have to wait for delivery they come down in minutes. i dont get sleeves, but then again i'm probably only missing out on a plain white sleeve or some labels in house sleeve. mp3 for me are very useful. they are revolutionizing the house music scene. alot of the top jock these days get the music sent to a sever. and they can get their latest promo's downloaded where ever they are in the world.
having said that i would never get an album or mix cd on mp3. you just cant beat having a hard copy to enjoy!! when it comes down to it, its just a choice thing, what ever you preffer.
