Just opening a new thread to share your music recommendations, since the old one is broken (temporarily, let's hope). I suggest posting your favorite records; because if it's just one song, I think the Now Playing thread will serve better.

Oh, and doesn't necessarily has to be big beat, techno or any electronic music, just post the records everyone should take a listen... ;)

My picks are:

Kraftwerk - Kraftwerk 2

Primal Scream - Screamadelica

Primal Scream - Vanishing Point

Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene

Cocteau Twins - Treasure

Air - Pocket Symphony

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol. II

Meat Beat Manifesto - Armed Audio Warfare

Saint Etienne - Good Humor

Manic Street Preachers - any record, really

Leftfield - Leftism

Underworld - dubnobasswithmyheadman

Daft Punk - Discovery

New Order - any record again, they're too good

Joy Division - Heart & Soul Boxset

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

I'll probably come back to post more soon

@Prochem: Tweekend? Really?

I'll try to come up with a list which doesn't include albums other people have posted. But on that note, Mezzanine by Massive Attack is an amazing album.

Crystal Method - Vegas

Fatboy Slim - Better Living through Chemistry (Everybody Loves a 303!!!)

Sigur Ros - Takk

The Beta Band - The Three Eps

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral

Orbital - Orbital 2

St. Germain - Tourist

Sublime - 40 Oz. to Freedom

Underworld - Second Toughest in the Infants

The Prodigy - Fat of the Land

Air - Moon Safari (for use in seducing a hot friend)

Soulwax - Any Minute Now/Nite Versions (two different albums, though it's awesome to listen to both and hear the translation into Nite Versions)

Radiohead - OK Computer

Lemon Jelly - '64-'95 (Sadly, Lemon Jelly is no more. :-( )

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Pearl Jam - Ten

Nirvana - Nevermind

Simian Mobile Disco - Attack Decay Sustain Release

Soul Coughing - El Oso

Daft Punk - Homework

DJ Shadow - Private Press

Tool - Ænima

I forgot some very important ones:

- A Perfect Circle - Mer de Noms (changed my life)

- Tycho - Past Is Prologue

- Röyksopp - any record is perfect (even their "Back to Mine")

- Fluke - Risotto (one of the first techno records I heard, just mindblowing)

- Depeche Mode - Violator (but pretty much everything with their name is good, especially the remixes)

- The Bravery - The Bravery

- Spiritualized - Songs In A&E (just released; the good old J. Spaceman haven't lost his touch)

- Róisín Murphy - Overpowered

- The Haçienda Classics (3 cd-set) - compiled by the almighty Hooky =p

Some of MadPooter's records reminded me, of the holy trinity of the generation X: Nirvana's Nevermind, Green Day's Dookie and Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral (and it you just have to own the Deluxe Version of the last one. Period.)

Hey Poots, Lemon Jelly isn't "totally" done. They are just on hiatus. ( or at least thats what I've read from Nick and Fred from their message board.)

Sounds like they just dont have much inspiration at the moment, which is fine. I really hope they do get back to together and tour again. I would love to see them live. I heard their live performances are on par with the Flaming Lips.

Oh reely?

Well, I think I might have read the same post you read, and the "no new LJ music for 2008" was disappointing. Sure one can be optimistic, but alas, Lemon Jelly will probably be yet another electronic act that I will have not been able to see live.

I'm still in tears over not seeing Orbital.

But Long Range may have some hope, although their album wasn't -amazing-.

Bosco - LJ live was an experience. A one man band as support, playing Jellybingo, and finding the Jellyhelper who had a close up of their face on the big screen and then running around the hall trying to find them to win a LJ mix CD. The music was great as well - the last show I saw they brought on the Scars (a 70's punk band) to play the parts they'd sampled on the Shouty track. A great night out!

One kind gent uploaded a huge amount of live and mixes via the LJ forum - have a look through http://www.lemonjell...read.php?t=5199

Cheers

I hear a lot of people bash Tweekend, but I find it to be one of my most favorite albums of all time. Just my opinion.

I think Tweekend has some enjoyable moments, but Vegas will be the best Crystal Method has to offer.
