Eh, I know where you're coming from. Compared to all the european ones, Pacha NYC is the scum of the franchise as far as the people is concerned... Regardless of that, It's one place I seem to be attending often due to the DJ's who play there (JP, Morillo, Tenaglia, Boris...it's aways a good night with them...and I have a Pacha VIP Passport too make things better :D)

Yeah i see that some quality dj's have played there. However, i used to live in NYC for a while , around 8 months , and i didnt have my rave up fix! I used to go for drinks more than for an actual rave up , cause there were no rave ups.
I used to hang out a lot in the meatpackers district and in chelsea and downtown...
The thing with the US is - its all to clean.
To many rules. A rave up has to be dark and sweaty and druggy - but with so many rules its seems that the only thing you can do is have youre drink in the bar - and have a little dance on the floor.
Plus...,the people....the beautifull people...well. What can i say. Its been fun for 8 months but i need PROPER RAVE UPS as in hands in the air lets all get fucked and look at the lasoooors and listen to some pounding tehcno!!

for a gig to be a rave has to be in a dark sweaty club with pounding speakers that deafen you and dirty music. pacha nyc and the other pacha are all about so called beautiful people dancing. it is pretensious and is not about the real reason for clubs the music

Dont get me wrong -ive never been to Pacha - so i really shouldn't say anything...But my experiences with New York are that there is NO proper rave ups.
You cant smoke inside ( I should be happy about that cause i fucking HATE sigarette smoke , but its to clean without it! ) , if they catch you with drugs you go straight to jail ( Here in Holland , if you have less than an x amount , they will confiscate it but let you go to the party ) , the drink prices are outrages and it never really goes off , its just more seeing and being seen.
Its not my cup off tea.
Iven been to Crobar once to see Sasha and Digweed dj -and it SUCKED. S U C K E D. It wasn't going off! Everybody is just checking you out! And the drink prices...MY GOD!! Its all to CLEAN! A club needs to be like Fabric in London - Dark , Steamy and Lasery.
I always used to hang out in the WORST of all places in NY - Bungalow 8. I had lots of fun there tho , the music was always a good mix between 70/80's and 80's stuff wich i love to dance to , and the cool thing about it was that it was really really small and all the celebs used to hang there , but everybody was just minding their own business.It wasn't like " OH MY GOD THERE'S * Insert name of big celeb* " But everybody was just chilling out and dancing. The bad thing about it is , you really have to BE somebody , KNOW somebody or look superhot to get in. Nobody gets in. Its so pretengious. It was a certain time in my life i i enjoyed that lifestyle for a bit , but now i landed back on earth...thank god :lol:
Give me a 303 , some lasers, pounding beats , happy dancing people , hands in the air , and i'm the happiest girl in the world :D

jeanie you werent hanging out with the right people.and the clubs you talk of are way to mainstream. trust me brooklyn is actually the place now for some proper parties. theres a airplane hanger actually here in jersey that hosts some stuff once and awhile. and philly has the drum and bass scene right now. GODS BAsement is a church that they throw some alright stuff. but its not mid ninties anymore remember that. i remember my brother getting me itno the tunnel a couple of times when i was 16 this was about 1999-2000 and that was some wierd happenigs at that place, but sad to say the republicans and the yuppies have pretty much cleaned up manhaten. and philly is going the same route. everything happens outside of the cities now.and paul van dyk is such a wierd combo in my opion to throw against the brothers. i saw oakenfold at the ultrafest open for the bro's and his following are some pretty lame and flaming people.

Unfortunately, the majority of people this side of the ocean seem to love their trance, so that's why PvD is on the bill, I would imagine.
We've been getting some medium/big trancers here in Winnipeg lately, but scarcely anything else. I haven't been to anything since, I think, MSTRKRFT back in the fall.
That1Guy threw a wicked rave set at Folk Fest, though. It was the proper atmosphere. Dark, outside on the side of a hill in the forest, fog machines, video screens, hundreds (maybe fifteen hundred?) of people fucked out of their skulls on a pulsing, impropmtu dancefloor.

Irishfan: dood, like I said... pacha nyc is the scum of all pachas. Let's not forget it use to be the infamous Sound Factory, so yeah...drugs in there still go like a merry-go-round and people sneak cigs and blunts behind/under the dj booth where it's dark ....as a matter of fact, not too long ago when I was there to see DJ Vibe (fucking awesome dj from portugal playing some sick sick dark tribal house shit) my friend forgot to hide his pills and the chick searching him found them in his pocket. She was like, "I can't let you go in with these, so either take them now, step outside or they're mine." totally cool about it... people depend on the drugs to stay up till one o'clock in the afternoon!
Jeanie: I haven't been to a rave since the late 90's hardcore/gabber warehouse parties infested with kids and their glowstiks, backpacks full of candy and PLUR stickers, UFO's , pacifiers and neon plastic wrap LOL I didn't even know raves still existed! J/K...

Takesumtime...you are probably right - the people i was hanging with weren't exactly big ravers!
I still think NY is one big supervisual fashionshow tho....i've never been partying in brooklyn tho. I'm just talking about mannahatta ;-)
