LIVE DVD?

Tom & Ed have spoken in the past that they don't feel a DVD can adequately capture the intensity and emotion of their live show. We've pressed and pressed for it in the past but as of yet there are no plans for such a release.
Hopefully in the future though...

Yeah, we've said our piece and expressed and justified our desires for a live DVD, we were were denied. Plus, a live DVD wouldn't capture the glint in Tom's eye. Well that's what Ed personally said here on the forum. So no live DVD right now. As a fan who enjoys what live footage I do have on the Singles DVD in the comfort of my living room, I understand and have the desire for a full-length live DVD. But when Ed laid his reasons against the DVD a couple of years ago, it made sense where he was coming from.
There was word that a company called Hacienda Prints is working on a documentary on the Chems' most recent US tour. If that really truly is in the works, then I'm looking forward to it.

Primus did a dvd titled "Blame It On The Fish". It was basically tour footage with live tracks, guest appearances, backstage clips, rehearsals and other tidbits. Not seperate tracks, it was in movie format. I think that would be cool for tom and ed. I dont think i'm explaining it right, but it's cool, trust me. Or look the dvd up, or buy it for $10. Its well worth it!

There are so many options to explore with putting out a DVD, namely surround sound. Imagine live Chemical Brothers footage in glorious surround sound! Mmmmm!
Aside from the live footage in the Chemical Brothers Singles DVD, I really enjoyed all the interviews as well as the Private Reels segment. The footage of them standing through the sunroof in the limo, going to Japan, waiting in the airport and arriving at the Hard Rock Cafe were funny and sort of sweet because Tom and Ed were so wide-eyed and you could tell the whole experience of touring seemed so new - as it would be to any young band.
I'm sure they've got tons of private reels type footage, as well as a lot of live footage. Some of which may have slipped behind Tom or Ed's sofa. What they want us to see, perhaps we'll one day be able to - otherwise it's kind of pointless to harp on about what we think the Chems because... because, well. You know. It's not our call.
I think overall we're quite lucky as fans of the Chemical Brothers in a lot of ways. Their singles are still readily available, but there are also more obscure releases that are fun for the collector hunt. Apart from the albums and singles we get surprise tracks here and there, Electronic Battle Weapons to look forward too, remixes and tracks from yesteryear that find their way to the surface, a grand live spectacle every couple of years, dj sets inbetween and posts from the band from time to time to let us know what's cookin'.
At this point I hate to ask for anything else (though a live DVD would no doubt be sweeeeeet), mainly because I do get the most from just listening to the music I have. And I think the Chems do what they can to spread the music and keep us entertained as is.

Whenever I watch the "Private Reels" on the DVD, I get choked up. Haha im soo Geeky :P
But seriously, I find it kinda emotional watching them when they were younger going from place to place around the world. And then on top of it you couldn't pick a better two tracks in Chico's Grove and Too Many Mornings to play during all the footage.
I always laugh at the Meatball sandwich part, probably my favorite part of the DVD.
oh, and as for Live DVD.....Of course I would love to have one.
I also still think we should make a documentary about the forum.....

A documentary about the forum... oh god.
"OK, we're panning over whirly's shoulder. She's sitting in front of the computer, taking sips of coffee and writing another long post..."
Might be a boring documentary, I'm afraid. Unless it was a documentary focused on the Buzzed Posting thread. That might be a bit amusing in a Human Traffic sort of way.

haha, well I was thinking of covering the several meet ups that several of us have experienced. Hell, this place even made a chemical couple!

the only people who would want to watch a documentary on us would probably be Us. It would be amussing to see it though on a future DVD as a easter egg...
And look, he's posting while in accounting class! Very productive indeed

When we start dressing up as chems related people/items then we know we've taken it too far.

Yes WHirly I totally agree, they treat their fans with such respect and don't ever dissapoint, consistant performers in the studio/live, prolific in all ways. Yeah, i really dig the footage of them on the singles DVD, what an exciting time for them, to be part of the 'Live electronic scene' back then must have been such a buzz! And to see Tom and Ed's enthusiasm hasn't faded (in my opinion) is so great to see. . Orbital threw in the towel, along with Leftfield...Prodigy disapperd off the radar until 2004, and Basement Jaxx have gone bery mainstream in my opinion, i mean suppoting Robbie!? But the chems have always kept it real, not appearing on Popworld to promote singles, the music does the talking as always, but behind every chems track, I always feel there is something personal to Tom and Ed and also myself, it's that connection that I've never felt before! Ok, i have gone right off course with where i was going!!
